Ornn Is OP? What can we do?
So I've thought this from the little I played him. I thought he was even more op when I had to play against him and he took aftershock instead of grasp. People on the boards think he's op. High elo streamers think he's op. Too op. So why is he so strong and what can/should be done about it?
Why: Many many reasons that factor together. Shopping in lane (great if winning, not bad if losing because you don't always have to base and miss xp). Tons of cc. CC immunity. %hp damage. %hp shield. The damage on his w ticks very quickly and makes him immune to cc. It also gives a brittle proc at the end. Since you don't want ornn to proc this and get aftershock, you are zoned away. Alternately, you fight, get stunned, take damage from aftershock, and... ornn presses w again - repeating the process. W is on a very low cd - similar to rumble q before the damage was increased but at the cost of a longer cd. It prevents enemies from effectively having a window in which they can reasonably trade against him. Furthermore, his abilities have had mana costs reduced significantly to the point that w is very spammable. Especially if mana band is taken. This actually matters a lot. Take jayce for instance. He does a ton of damage early - out-trading enemies in both ranged and melee form and locks to rack up multiple early laning kills and snowball from there. But opponents - being unable to win a straight-up trade 1v1 in most cases - can play the alternate method to beating an opponent (the sustain game). Jayce's mana pool is very low - a price he pays for all that harass damage he does early game. Opponents can simply run him out of mana so he cannot use spells, then beat him from there. This method doesn't really work with ornn currently because of mana band, ability to shop while in lane, and too generous of mana costs for ornn. In many ways, it is as if ornn is a tank version of rumble but with more cc and much more durability without sacrificing in early game damage.
What can be done? There are several possibilities. The cd on his w could be increased - preventing him from spamming it and opening windows for opponents to fight back where they won't be stunned immediately by brittle and hit with another w. The damage on w could be reduced or dealt in fewer ticks - giving opponents more chances to dodge out on some of the damage. Higher mana costs on w would also work to prevent ornn from spamming is w and force players to consider wisely the best time to use it.
is weak.
