"Thought Experiment" post, what if melee and ranged items were separated?

I always thought it was weird seeing Caitlyn buying swords and MF buying axes. I realize this would take a lot of work and would mean losing some classic memes/references to specific items. But what if they just had separate items?

Like, what if Melee's had Infinity Edge but Ranged champions had Infinity Bow(dumb name), which is essentially the same but balanced around ranged champions using it?

We have something similar with and but it is not 100% what I mean.

So for example. There could be: Blade of the Ruined King, for melees. And Ranged champions instead get Gun of Kravos(random name is random), which is essentially the same thing but balanced around ranged champions using it.

This means item diversity would not be really hurt, but we could balance range and melee items separately.
