Malzahar needs a couple specific QoL buffs

When Malzahar received the W QoL buff to cast it without interrupting movement quite a while ago, that was a step in the right direction for how he should operate. Given that he literally has no innate mobility or disengage, he needs the tiny bit of free movement. Looking at it more realistically, he's flying. Why does casting Q and E cause him to stop in mid-air? All he does for the most part is wave his arms/hands. If the animation for casting Q was made to be less exaggerated, it would work.

For a comparison, look at Syndra. She can cast Q and W without interrupting her movement, presumably because she also flies, plus she can move after briefly channeling her ult. Considering she has an AoE slow, AoE knockback and an AoE stun, why does she get more free movement than Malzahar? She has 3 forms of disengage, with the knockback and stun sometimes being combined(!). To reiterate, Malzahar has 0 disengage and 0 mobility. I believe it's only fair to give Malzahar the tiny bit of extra free movement to compensate for his glaring weaknesses that Syndra lacks.

Now onto voidlings: As most already know, voidlings currently do nothing when Malzahar dies, except follow a target without attacking if they had one prior to his death. Aside from the little bit of vision granted, it's beneficial to the enemy team by giving them 12 free gold. That isn't right. I don't see why the voidlings can't attack an enemy when they see one. It could be argued that they must be mentally controlled by Malzahar, but I don't believe they are brainwashed in that manner. Even if that was the case, wouldn't the brainwashing be broken after he dies? Why would they continue to follow their attack target but not attack? Do Zyra's plants stop attacking after she dies?

Those are the only QoL buffs he really needs. With them, he would still have plenty of counter-play and not be much stronger.

malzahar's ult prevents me from agreeing with any buff suggestions related to the champion. suppression is a ridiculous mechanic, considering it's point and click (and it malzahar's case has massive range).

rework his ult and we can talk about giving malzahar a little more mobility. until then he's fine in my eyes. does a ton of damage and has incredible 1v1 potential.

I don't expect it, but would be nice to hear some insight from Meddler or another designer.

I feel like Malzahar could fairly get mobility buffs if his ult's dmg was toned down a bit.
