I think Ardent Censer is a bad concept and should be reworked

It allows the support to basically donate their gold to the ADC instead of building items that help to support the team in general. Like even if you think an item like Mikael's is only for the ADC that's false because you can use it to great effect on any ally given the right situation.

Ardent Censer is a statstick except you're givng the stats to the ADC. I think this encouraged the excessively ADC centric meta we're in now. The whole reason we give all farm to the ADC is that it's more efficient to focus the farm on one carry instead of two due to exponential damage scaling. So an item like Censer becomes mandatory due to more attack speed on the ADC being a more powerful buy than anything else you can buy.

The game would be better without an item like that.

You are aware you can apply your skills that proc censer on teammates other than the marksmen, right? Furthermore, when using AOE abilities with your team around will benefit all of them. Such as Karma's shield when ulting, Sona'a heal, Soraka and Janna's ults.

The point being it does benefit the whole team. It just depends on how you're using it.

It's irrelevant. The ADC abuses attack speed far better than anyone else.

To you, not in general. My point still stands. The item still provides buffered heals/shields to others.

Are you saying that because you can give other champions attack speed, this item is not creating a bad meta?

I'm saying them item exists for more than giving attack speed, which you're fixated on. It depends on the player on how the item is being used.

It seems in general people have complained this year about support items creating unhealthy metas, whether or not bought on supports themselves. Such as Knight's Vow being bought on top laners and junglers.

Well maybe items can create bad metas.

I never said that increased shield/heal is a problem with this item. Do you think I am advocating for the removal of that? I feel like you're just being difficult for no reason.

Perhaps we're both being difficult, if anyone actually is. I wasn't feeling that personally from either of us. I just felt we were having a discussion with opposing views.

Personally neither Ardent Censer becoming FoTM item on support, or Knight's Vow being used elsewhere bothers me. Marksmen spent a fair share of the season being considered inconsequential and weak. It rolled back around to them being not only strong, but the gameplay/strategy centered around them.

If censer is a problem, it's one piece of a much larger issue. Such as a decent amount of junglers feeling the role is less impactful for starters. Many were not happy when the strategy turned into them becoming second supports to marksmen.

Honestly this entire year has felt off in a lot of ways, more than previous seasons. I haven't been able to put my finger on it, so perhaps it's just a lot of ideas being tossed around at once, like throwing spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks.

I just know this is the first season since 3 that i've actively avoided playing for large gaps in time, and heard more complaints from high elo players than ever before by the overall state of the game. Issue is, no one really knows how to improve conditions, so our suggestions become more strands of spaghetti to throw. Everyone is just hoping for something to stick.

Agreed ardent is bad design if only for one reason, there is no skill in using it and no potential outplay against it outside of enemy stupidity, they need to remove the free on hit stats ardent provides or somehow make ardent damage be denied via skill expression.

Now this does not mean gut ardent, it means rework it and either lower the items costs or keep it as is now but raise the gold value of it by 650 to reflect the power it adds to games.
