you buy this item and the description essentially reads "if you are a melee carry or ranged attack carry, you cannot touch me. if you do you die instantly"

aboslutly ridiculous. buy this on any brusier and your AA based champs cant do anything. at this point all u need to do is stack one more armor item such as sunfire for even more burn and more HP+MR to deal with AP.

you cant convince me or tell me otherwise that this item is not broken or inherently flawed in its design. just like with DFG and hourglass, there is absolute ZERO counter play. like honestly, who designed this item and WHY? who at riot said "hey, you know what would be funny? if melee carries and ranged carries killed themselves by attacking! that shit will be hilarious"

DFG was eliminated for a reason. Hourglass costs 3300 FUCKING GOLD for one item with only two passive properties. In comparison, it's worth diddly shit to a Trinity Force's gold efficiency - and has a whopping SIXTY SECOND active cooldown period - why people complain about this is beyond me.

As for Thornmail, build last whisper + Bloodthirster. Guess who doesn't die from Thornmail anymore? Anyone.

You'd think you'd know this by now, being in Diamond. Apparently you don't. It's purpose was to limit the effectiveness of hypercarries such as Vayne and Tryndamere. Without the option, they have very little actual counterplay, they literally scale out of proportion in minutes and you essentially lose if they have a remote clue how to end a game.

unfortunately not true, but we need such an item

an adc with proper items like lastwhisper and bloodthirster will be barely damaged by thornmail while chunking the target hard a master yi can effectively kill a target with thornmail even in a trade

the thing is that autoatacks with crit are even more broken than that, so this item stays fine as far as autos can kill a target with 5k hp and 4oo armour in a time below 10 seconds

and you know what was even funnier ? when yi just launched himself into enemy team and lifestealed faster than they could hurt him or when 2 such master yi's traded eachother and they healed faster than they could hurt eachother

Its Garen FFS. Everyone knows that guy is super tanky in exchange of being completely ignorable late game.

Do it on any other bruiser/tank and the result is different, not to mention that most other carries can actually shred through HP. Why don't you pick Kalista or Vayne or a carry that is actually picked often? If a Vayne dies to Thornmail, then we have an unusual happening right there.

Then you realize a lot of carries have abilities and non AA damage instead of relying 100% on auto attacks, in a real game scenario no one is straight up going to be killed by thornmail like that. Also, your main isn't even affected by thornmail since you just push R and not die anyways.

Why are you trying to attack a tank as adc solo? Oh no it took that guy in the video 30 secs to kill themselves attacking a tank with thornmail, not to mention one of the tankiest champs in the game. And no I don't normally use thornmail, only if I'm playing a straight tank, most of the time I'll take frozen heart for the CDR, AS slow, and the mana.

Are you stupid, why is ashe trying to kill the tankiest champion in the game, by herself? If you try to take a tank on by yourself as an adc you've already messed up, you have so little health and they have so much they'll pummel you to death before you can make a significant dent in them. That Garen has about 260 armor after your calculating for your LW, it's reducing your damage by about 70 percent, not to mention he has twice your health. Maybe you should either A: Not fight a tank by yourself as an ADC, or B: If you absolutely have to solo a tank with thornmail as an ADC, or any AA based champion, maybe get a item 3139 Mercurial Scimitar, it does 80 damage and gives 35 MR along with your 50 from the GA, and 55 from a banshees veil.
