Whats the difference between dynamic queue and solo queue?

Is the main thing that there is no penalty for grouping? That it? Just means more premades. Am I missing something?

Nope that's it. With solo queue you could only duo with one person, and with dynamic you can make groups of 1-5. For some reason everyone here thinks that means ranks don't mean anything anymore, even though its pretty much the same experience if you play solo as it was before.

It really isn't at all, there's a huuugggeee difference in influence that solo players had before and after DQ was implemented

swiftsnipe1 votes

i'm pretty sure the only difference is that people blame their losses on riot rather than their teammates now.

Think about every advantage in the game that premades get from having easy communication and familiarity with eachother...

each of those advantages are not provided to solo players and are therefor a disadvantage for solo players. That's a huge loss in influence when you realize how much of an impact communication has on the game

swiftsnipe2 votes

95% of communication can be achieved through pings and simple notes in chat:

"play safe" "don't fight" "drag 1 min"

The little 5% you lose in communication is meaningless towards you losing compared to the 2000% effect of you not being good enough to be challenger.

Player skill is infinitely more valuable still than a little communication.

You don't seem to understand my points, and I can't explain it to you unless you've seen it first hand. As a primarily SQ player that still plays a decent amount of games with friends, I have noticed an extreme difference in my influence in the game. Idk how to make you understand so we'll just agree to disagree I suppose.

I'll just leave this here: http://elohell.net/chill/384136/pings

because this just shows a tiny fraction of the things that pings don't allow you to say yet premades can in less than half a second

swiftsnipe2 votes

'okay so type:

"f syndra" "ult 25" "braum ult" "tri warded"

you should be running timestamps on chat.

Slythion3 votes

Not always an option to stop what your doing to type (even if it's for a second) when there's a teamfight/gank/creepwave etc.

Dedrius1 votes

No there is not, the odds of a player not in high elo of being a solo queue player matched up against premades is extremely low.

This is just a trendy way of saying ELO hell all over again.

Slythion1 votes

You realize that every single 4-man premade forces a solo player? Every 3-man has to have either a 2-man or 2 solos.

That's a pretty big portion of the matches right there.

I can tell you right now that solo players don't face 5 other solo players regularly at all, because if it was so easy to match solo players against purely solo player teams than why would Riot be afraid if SQ? If that were the case, the effect of SQ (matching only solo's against solo's) is already in effect in the DQ system. No, Solo Players face premades in the majority of games

Dedrius1 votes

I'm not saying no solo players are matched against premades, obviously that has to happen in cases of 4 or 3 man premades like you said. But the odds of one low elo player constantly getting matched with premades over and over is very small. In addition to that, in like 95% of games with a 4 man premade, they are also against a 4 man premade so the teams are even.

Are they though? We've already established how solo players have lost influence in games with premades. The game stops being "even" when there is 2 players that are going into the game lacking the advantages that the other 8 possess.

In an exaggerated situation it's like:

We have a lizard + Dragon fighting a lizard + Dragon. Don't worry it's completely fair for those lizards there! It's totally not going to be decided on which Dragon is better, right?

and even if those games are a rare occurrence, don't you think a system that will intentionally put you in unenjoyable games because of the very purpose of the system is a bit flawed?

Dedrius1 votes

I honestly don't feel that I have any less impact on a game even if there are premades in it. I honestly can't even tell when I with premades or if it ever happens. Just because a premade is on a team doesn't automatically make every player in that premade good.

If you are against a group of Mid/Top/Jung/Sup then you can still solo kill mid/top all the same, you just might need to be a little more vigilant of ganks from their jungle friend.

People are complaining that when you're teamed 4+1v3+2 or whatever, that the 1 person on the 4+1 team will be flamed, because obviously none of the 4 will blame each other for their deaths (usually). Likewise, when people are matched against 5 man premades when their team is 3+2 or something, they complain about the coordination the other team usually has. It's not so much about the actual system, but the effect of the new system.

Having random bits of team sizes and MMR that you have to play tetris with to make a match is what is frustrating. Match outcomes are rarely indicative of the skill of the players and more just based on advantages of playing with premades.

Also, being matched with a 4 man premade as a solo player is the single WORST experience in the game. It doesn't matter how nice they are, or how much they gank your lane, it is RARE for that game to result in any communication between the solo player and the 4 man premade. It doesn't even feel like you're playing with a team of 5 players.

You fail to actually understand what being a premade means:

**Better communication **

This makes for easier lane phases, ganks, teamfights, objective control, item building, team comp construction, warding, shot-calling

Now this all looks fine and dandy when written up, but when you realize that each advantage that premades have is an advantage that solo players don't, you realize just how unfair ranked is for solo players now. Each of these unfair advantages (and yes, they're unfair the moment they became available for some players and not others) takes influence from solo players and gives it to the premade, which ruins

  1. the ranked experience
  2. the accuracy of ranked to be able to judge individual skill (which was always the purpose of ranked before this season)

and it's also a system that pretty much encourages an act called "boosting" in which you queue up with players better than you to achieve a rank higher than what you deserve.

Now you may think, "but their just playing with friends!", but unfortunately that doesn't apply. No one is going to queue in ranked with players that are worse than them, right? If they wanted to play with their friends but they will derank you, then that's what norms are for. Players are only playing with their better friends which doesn't mean it's not boosting just because they're your friend. And if they are playing ranked for their bad friends, it once again ruins the legitimacy of ranked gradings when you have players bringing in others into matches where they don't belong.

So I suppose you can summarize to just "oh ya players can play with more than 1 friend now", but in reality that simple statement implies a whole host of other problems. So ya...ranked sucks this season

http://i.imgur.com/5vPvb3V.png?1 there are different standards for different elo's

but being solo in a 4 - 1 comp is frustrating.. i do solo and i have been bombarded when i asked someone not to do something then i realize i am the outsider. riot says its less toxic.. but i think its just more directed than all over the place.

That is exactly correct, especially when you're with a cocky premade. You give a suggestion and get shot down. Or even if you got first blood, first tower, leading in farm, or however good you're doing (not that anyone [especially me] is always doing good), if you're team is losing, then you're team is toxic with you. Simply due to the fact that you don't know them, they are more comfortable blaming and flaming you than anyone else (not that flaming is ever a solution). I assume this isn't as much of a problem in higher elos, but that's because i assume higher ranks are the people who realize they make mistakes, and see how to fix them rather than flame others.

That said, I feel like the lack of communication effects high ranking players on a much larger scale, during events such as teamfights, milliseconds can count. The moment you take to ping your target could be the moment the teamfight tips in their favor, especially in teamfights where you are constantly changing focus due to high mobility champions. The evidence is clear everywhere, communication is one of the highest contributing factors to the outcome of any team based game. This is the reason for applications such as Curse and Teamspeak, I'm sure this is also the reason for Riot's implementation of smart pings. Yes, skill at the game is definitely important. A wood 5 team with full communication will not beat any challenger team, regardless of whether they have communication. But i.e., if you take 2 teams from LCS, let's say Immortals vs TSM, both being extremely amazing teams, this would normally make for a good match up. Now take verbal communication away from Immortals, TSM doesn't stand much a chance anymore do they? And this can go either way with any fair match up. When it comes down to it, communication is and will continue to be one of the biggest influences in any team related events.

Its different, but the same at higher elo's.

  1. if you are exploitable the enemy will exploit you. One guy wrote about how he made diamond, "I checked their last few games and if they where on a losing streak i would camp them. Most of the time they would rage quit or are already tilted."
  2. still verbally toxic people. - it is a stressful environment, people react differently in stress than in a normal environment. go to a grocery store before a big storm is expected and watch normal people fist fight over milk.
  3. reason for higher elo players verses lower elo player. Higher elo players win more games. we still have feeders and all the same crap that lower elo has, but we know how to win games. I use '/mute all' a large amount because i get tilted easy. i tell people i am muting them not to be a jerk, but because i believe them knowing that i cant hear will cause them to stop typing. Less typing = more focusing on the game.

Communication in higher elo is this: a targeted ping happens on a certain champ. You are expected to know what that ping means. Assist at drag. you should know your job.

lets break down assist at drag. ping 'help' who is alive and who is dead. do you know where the enemy is. what is your team comp. do you have vision. do you need vision. is it a 50/50 or easy secured. would you be better needed to zone or push the objective. should you be somewhere else. are TP's up or down. is it a bad call and you should let that idiot pinging it die because they did it wrong? is smite up. do you need smite? rather than start the drag is it going to turn to a bait instead? should we fight or leave if it is contested.

so to explain. communication isnt top. self accountability is more valued, because that is how some of us got there.

and to anyone that hired assistance to climb the ladder. You are easy to spot in the game.
