yeah, I saw that too. It makes me sad, because I saw something similar will the last champ that came out too.

Shen gets a passive that looks like it should belong to Mordekaiser . Illaoi 's entire kit seems like it should have gone on a Yorick rework.

Yorick - death, souls, take all that is illaoi and her kit deals with souls, and things that come out of the ground... graves.. dead.... is that not a ringing theme...

Pretty sure Riot has given up all the 'full' reworks at this points. You know, just make a new champion with the idea, everyone is happy.

But that's the odd thing, they try SO hard to keep the old fans happy but bring them into the new light, while failing to do either because each portion holds them back in one aspect or another. When some champs NEED to be entirely reworked to help them become memorable.

Pressing R isn't strategic, but the Root + long cd + Channel with a warning for the enemy it becomes a very strategic and "hard" spell to use

An argument could be made for Shen's being the Shield to Iron Man's Sword, right?

And hey, I know you really don't like to BottomKaiser, but think of how well new Shen synergizes with the Iron Revenant now. You both get shields, you get a field of no AA harass against pesky ADC's, you get a nice taunt to hold your foolish foes down before you get Rylai's - and you get a big shield to shield you while you power up your own shields.

Ready for some MORE(d) SHENanigans?

That VU is really small; relatively small model changes, a few new animations, new textures, and some VFX (but nothing too fancy).

In contrast, Mordekaiser also needs:

Thematic Exploration: Since he actually is just a walking armor, not exploiting his awesome theme completely.
A New Rig: Otherwise you can't create good new animations for him.
A Full Rework Which may feature hugely different skills requiring a good chunk of art resources.

Because Shen is actually pretty boring to play and his effectiveness solely relies on good ultimates and taunts, to the point where half his kit might as well not exist.

So he is reworked to actually be interesting to play as which gives more room to cool plays.

No, he gets the job done, that's where the skill is in Shen, knowing when to taunt and landing it, ultimate takes a lot of map awareness, you can even make plays with it, honestly he's been untouched for 6 years. Why not just make new champions tbh another ninja would be great.
