thats right way back in the day garen used to get this stacking armor and mr thing on W instead of bonus ar/mr.

now what is so bad about it? well the fact that it will take the ENTIRE FUKIN GAME TO FARM IT UP. and while we are on the subject why is there a cap? and why for the love of god is it only 0.2? i mean look at other stacking champs they get WAAAAAAY more.

and if you were to give him infinite stacking ar/mr with 0.3 (small buff) per unit killed it would still take him roughly 20 minutes to get around 50 ar/mr

this would actually allow garen to build offensive (as he should)

sorry not with you on this. the old passive is much better for him than the % passive. mainly due to build diversity and becuse its free.

if you have a teemo in your lane, you get bonus mr by farming under your turret without having to recall. this is a big deal. and slowly get more resistant to his poke without even investing gold. youll have resistace numbers by midgame, that you would otherwise only get from it with heavy resistance items like thornmail.

it currently takes a 150 bonus mr and armor to reach a resistance bonus of 30 with the % mechanic. thats really quite a lot. and it means that some of your item slots are always locked up to an item like randuins or some other big resistance item. or youd waste the potential of the passive.

its also to note, that the patch tomorrow will reduce the per rank cap on the resistance bonus. meaning he can put 1 point into it and farm it up to 30. they also increase the bonus per minion back to .3 and even give him 1 resistance for large jungle monsters.

this means its only gonna take up to 100 cs until hes capped out. thats not much.

basically his old w passive is back in all of its glory. he can build tanky and is just as tanky as hes now. or he can focus on damage and is still decently tanky, when he wouldnt be now.

lol. you have no idea.

if youre actually maining the champ, then you know tank garen has no lategame presence. he only exists to ult one target and does nothing else. bruiser garen carries.

both builds fall off eventually. but tank garen falls off faster and harder. and a damage build snowballs harder and can end games before that happens.

Maybe you're thinking of Hybrid Garen rather than what I'm thinking of (full AD offensive Garen).

Offensive Garen is too squishy to do much since his burst comes from his Q and his ult. Hybrid Garen does damage but is not the tank that every teamfight needs. Tank Garen is the tank every teamfight needs, he can slap down decent damage, remove the carry from the fight with his ult, and soak what the frontline would take. It's not about his late-game presence, tanks never should really have late-game presence with the exception of Shen.

from my experience, tank garen is terrible all around and falls off really hard around 35 minutes. and the most important part is, he cant actually tank. his spin doesnt deal noticable damage to make him a threat. and he has no peel, initiate or anything else to show for himself that a tank should have.

my build is usually 21/9/0 masteries unless i get countered in lane. with items like these item 3142 item 3071 item 3031 item 3156 item 3143 item 1001

and this build falls off much later than tank garen. and it doesnt fall off nearly as hard. ive tried both playstiles. more tanky and more agressive like this. and tanky just didnt work for me.

guess what playstile is going to get better with the flat resistance bonus.
