What GGMF should have been.
I have witnessed a lot of posts expressing disappointment for the latest Ultimate tier skin for league of legends.
Admittedly and undeniably, its quality is far beneath that of a skin of its class; no further proof is needed when Riot themselves invented a new pricing tier just for it.
Now I ask myself: "why?" Every ultimate tier skin up until now has been a joy for the eyes, pushing the quality bar through the roof. Every ultimate skin reception has been widely positive. Not only ultimate tier, but generally latest years skin relases are state-of-the-art quality. All this sentences to state the following: "Riot skin team has all the capabilities to further their history of high quality products".
"Why this letdown, then?" My personal opinion is that they encountered serious problems realizing and animating the model of the suit (which is very complex indeed) and, since time is money, they actually realized that if they continued to work and expand on it, there would have been no profit left for them. So they cutted the work, recycled the animations they could, made 4 switchable chromas on the fly, and wrapped it up in a pricing that actually allowed them to get a profit out of it. Safe, but not very noble.
Nobody would have complained if GGMF was faithful to her awesome concept art. Maybe 3 forms: military (bulky, bullet feel), standard (futuristic, lasers) and alien (weird shapes, antimatter cannons). But the models must be diverse and unique, non chromas. Right now, it would feel better to just be a legendary with available chromas in the shop.
