Minimum mastery to use a champ in ranked?

I'm not sure why some kind of system to ensure that people know how to play a champ (not that mastery is the best but the best trackable variable I can think of) in ranked. Seems like so many games are thrown or people rage when they play a champ they don't know in ranked get stomped by there laner and then afk or are so tilted it might as well be 4 v 5. Ive found going over games where a lane gets hard stomped a majority of it are people new to the champ and not knowing how to play it.

Should there not be some minimum mastery level on a champ to unlock it in ranked to ensure they know at least the basics of the champion?

You don't seem to understand how many flaws there are in that idea.

For one, you can have 99 million mastery points in any given champ and that won't stop you from having a bad game/feeding. No matter how much you practice, you aren't perfect and are capable of making mistakes and mistiming things/getting mechanically outplayed. No amount of mastery points will change that.

Conversely, just because someone's playing a champ they aren't quite familiar with doesn't mean they're automatically going to feed. Instead of being toxic, try to help them out with the champion instead and keep their head in the game and try to help the lane out if it isn't going so well.

It will also make ranked just super grindy and drive a lot of people away from it because of an asinine metric.

Also, there will never be an agreed threshold for what's an acceptable amount of mastery points. No matter what it is, people will always want it to go higher because they think it will matter when in reality it won't because of the reason I stated above.

iron 4 exists and thats usually where unqualified people end up... if you are good at your champ or at least a few in a role gold is easily obtainable with time and patience but as far as playing new things, if you are bad at cs, rotations and map awareness.. you were relying on something that made your comfort picks strong
