I believe they wanted to work on her shroud mainly, though they also commented on her very feast or famine nature (live until 6 then try and 1 shot. Fall behind and you lose).

Professor Akali did a short video about it after they invited him to try it out and give his thoughts, and though he couldn't give any details (NDA prevented this), he did mention the things that they were aiming to change about her.

At least let her still be hawt, and also don't do any sexuality change like with Varus (got nothing against it, just seems pointless)

akali has little to no depth in her character or story. her kit practically reflects that. hopefully both will be expanded an harmonized.

Actually, Nunu is safe from that because he's a 450 champ. Since he's a starter champ, his kit will need to be easy to learn and simple, with mastery built into the nuance of it. CertainlyT found this out the hard way when he was tasked with reworking Warwick. He couldn't go balls to the walls crazy with the kit design, because the people above him actually reigned him in when he got overly complex, and forced him to use simpler, new player friendly concepts and mechanics. He said he didn't prefer that way of design (I think because he probably considered it creatively stifling), but in the end, he actually made a well designed kit that was easy for new players, and had enough skill expression for experienced players - and none of the bullshit of his other insane kits like Yasuo, Zoe, or Kalista. It only proved that if CertainlyT has someone saying "NO! Take that out this instant!" governing his design process and keeping him to task, he can do wonderful things. CertainlyT is like a fire. If you let it burn however it wants, it goes out of control and will burn down the barn, the house, and whatever else it sees. But if you put the fire in a pit, with a grill grate over it, it's capable of great things, because sometimes being contained brings out the best in you and prevents you from losing form and focus.

That being said, Akali is a danger zone. She's not a 450 champ, so she's not beholden to the same principles as Nunu. If he's working on her, he'll only have to preserve a few things about her old kit, and then the rest is fair game - which could result in absolute cancer considering how much he loves to break boundaries.

karthus does NOT need a rework. his kit is exactly what you'd think it would be and plays exactly how it should play.

I'd be fine with just an in-game look update on Morde, though Karthus can be free from rework, Kayle needs one and I remember they said before that there are plans for such
