If you're gonna nerf Shyvana's clear speed

Could you maybe revert the changes made to her Q in 6.6? Her early game is not that great anyways, and if you take her clear speed I feel like she's left without any purpose. At least reverting her Q changes would give her some early game dueling. If you make her slower at least make her better at fighting of the Lee Sins that's will take advantage of it and invade her without mercy! I feel like it would still result in a net nerf, since her Q doesn't really help her clear speed too much, since she is more reliant on attack speed than on raw damage. t. long time Shyvana player

Edit: The nerfs to her Q:

V6.6

Twin Bite Second hit bonus damage reduced to 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100% AD from 80 / 85 / 90 / 95 / >100% AD.

What change, as a long time Shyvana player, would you recommend they do?

You have to admit, with the recent changes to her jungle and her kit her position in the solo queue power rankings sky rocketed; Something they most likely did not foresee and are displeased with the results.

perhaps he edited it after you posted this, but I see that he recommended reverting the nerfs to her Q that were implemented in 6.6

and personally, I love it when Shyvana is meta. Idk why but she's always pretty fun for me to see in games (although that's probably an unpopular opinion)

Oh i love playing her too, She's my babygirl, And i love when the meta allows me to let her out to play without feeling like i'm duping both myself and my team by playing a weaker champion overall.

And yes, I did noticed that. However i was hoping he'd offer something else, since i don't think reverting the Q back would solve the issue at hand, It would merely put a band-aid on it.

Honestly, I don't know why they don't just reduce the %hp dmg from her E and allow her to keep her clearing speed. That's her identity, and it's only possible through the bonus damage from her burnout...so why tackle that instead of the real issue is her having both clear speed and early gank/damage potential? I just don't understand their reasoning to nerf her core identity instead of her performance in categories that she's supposed to lack in...I feel like what Riot is doing is the real band-aid in play here ;n;

And Shyvana was the first champion I ever played (throwback to having to learn how to 2v1 top with only a single ranged ability), I love her simple-yet-terrifying kit and general style <3

Like Slythion said, keep the nerfs to her clearspeed currently introduced on the PBE, but revert the changes made to her Q in 6.6 to buff up her early dueling potential. I agree that she is too strong right now, but I feel like buffing her Q back up again would still result in a net nerf while keeping her relevant and maybe making her viable in toplane again. The thing currently with her is that there are a lot of champions that can outdamage her early, and her sole purpose right now is her clear speed and power farming ability. You have to keep in mind that Shyvana doesn't have any great ganking tools early, so if you take away her clearspeed (all she currently has) she's left with nothing.

exactly i and i don't understand why they want to hit her speed considering the fact of this if she can't clear the jungle decent then she is open to getting screwed up bad as she really can't out fight in the start of the game and is rather a sitting duck.

Myrmiron1 votes

That's where reverting the Q changes would come in. She was actually pretty good at early dueling before they nerfed it.

I did not know that i came in at the start of season 6 and did not have her at this time.

From the patch notes:

V6.6

Twin Bite Second hit bonus damage reduced to 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100% AD from 80 / 85 / 90 / 95 / >100% AD.

They basically halfed the damage on the 2nd hit of her Q.

Shifue Draven1 votes

Ok i can see where that revert would help.

honestly i am worried about the nerf to her clear considering this is something she has excelled at. This is one of the reasons i love her cause of her counter jungling skills. I just don't see this ending well as they now seemed to have packed all of our power into our ult now.

she is back to the gutter with these w changes, isn't allowed to be viable for more than two patches

Shifue Draven1 votes

This is what worries me as it seems when they gutter a champ they stay there for a while.

WoonStruck1 votes

She deserves these nerfs. Badly.

No compensation.

Until her % damage is removed, she needs to be difficult to successfully use.

Ulquiorra9952 votes

Because she's the only champion in the game with % damage and that makes her a huge problem.

WoonStruck1 votes

She's the only one that ends up with it on nearly every auto attack that ends up extremely tanky.

Ulquiorra9952 votes

Flame Breath: cooldown 12-8 seconds, debuff duration 5. Which means that since she maxes it last, she gets less than 50% uptime on it until late game - if she hits a narrow skillshot, and that is on a single target only. "Nearly every auto" my ass.

Gnar Vi and a few spell-based ones: Zac Spammable and AoE, Amumu persistent AoE effect which also scales, has higher base damage and does not require you to hit a narrow skillshot. Special mention to TahmKench which scales with his own massive HP pool instead of opponents, meaning he'll be far more effective against squishy targets.

I'm actually starting to like these shyvana nerfs, i mean, she was barely playable before now it's basically sticking a toothpick in your eye if you try to play her, but this way i can easily detect people when they say that shyvana is good or strong: they're without doubt fucking retards with a worthless opinion that deserve no respect or consideration, so i stop wasting my time talking to such pieces of dogshit.

I hope you guys realise that at level 1, the bonus damage Burnout does to monsters amounts to 4 damage per second, with it doing a total of 14 bonus damage at level 9. If this is gonna gut Shyvana's clear then it can't be very good as it is, can it?

Myrmiron1 votes

lv1 Burnout damage: 20/s (times) 7s = 210 (ignoring AD and AP). 20% of 210 is 42 damage AOE. Let's say she has an attack speed of 1, means 7 attacks with Burnout active. 7 (times) 5 = 35. 20% of 35 is 7. Means Shyvana loses 49 damage at level 1, and 122.5 at 9. I think it's a pretty decent nerf to reduce a skill's base power by 49 at lvl 1 and 122.5 at lvl 9, keep in mind, most of that damage is AOE. That means she'll probably need a couple of autos more for each camp, making her clear not only slower, but also making her take more damage from camps, especially if it turns out her AOE damage isn't enough anymore to AOE down the small monsters during midgame. All I ask as compensation is a little more dueling power, since this makes her much weaker to invades, and over all decreases her map presence.

Yes, it may seem like it's not much on paper, but just imagine needing 1 more auto for each monster in the chicken camp. That alone means

  • You take a lot more damage.
  • You need 6 seconds longer to clear that camp, 6 second in which Lee Sin can position himself to jump you and ruin your day.

And now take into consideration that at some camps you use your Burnout twice, meaning double the damage loss, or at epic monsters where you easily use it multiple times, and literal milliseconds can decide about whether you can sneak it or you get spotted and killed.

You can even revert those AP ratio "buffs" you gave her to compensate for the Q nerf if it gets bumped back up. I'm sure none of The Shyvana players would object to that rebalance of power.

Myrmiron1 votes

That's amazing +1 dps from masteries though...

shes stupid strong. just a titanic hydra and do 44k damage. i consistently do so much dmaage on her going near full tank.

RaiokuMoonscar1 votes

The nerf doesn't really do anything to her clear for those that are curious about it. She is still the fastest when it comes to clearing, just not by such a huge margin and you're still only a little under half hp after a full clear using the hunters talisman. She is also easily able to take the dragon at lvl 4 so no change there either.
