I love how everyone insists the game is broken and Riot doesn't care

Mira Arya Enthe··33 votes·2,037 views

Yep. I am sure they don't like making money. It's not like coding and balancing takes time and effort. I mean. Look at all the boards members making their multi-million dollar games. It is so easy to create and manage a huge company that started from nearly scratch.

Meanwhile btw. If you watch the highest high tier play. You'll notice most of the time in most seasons, the game runs well, plays well and is pretty fun. With some balance issues here and there. How about spend less time looking for conspiracies and Riot's 'evil plots' and spend more time enjoying and getting better at the game.

Surely you aren't suggesting that I'm not Challenger because I'm not good.

This game is a broken mess and Riot is just being lazy.

The community points out every little issue and makes it easy for Riot to fix.

I mean, there is the problem. You see it right? Why isn't it fixed already?

If you look at the Challengers who are youtubers you'll see them often complain about how op new champion updates are or how broken certain game mechanics are. And they always end up being right which is why Riot almost always does nerfs on newly updated champions. There is value in listening to people more experienced than you instead of just blindly believing that Riot is perfect. I would never claim Riot does any of it on purpose though, that is just idiotic. Riot simply has to test things before they can properly balance it so they know what needs to be balanced.

But ya anyone claiming Riot is lazy is idiotic. They aren't paying tons of top end developers to be lazy and do nothing. They pay them to get things done and guess what, things are getting done. This game has improved a lot over the years and many new improvements are in the works.

I remember Challengers thinking Jhin and his reload mechanic were stupid and destined to forever be shit.

When something is strong, they're very rarely wrong, but they can be pretty bad at telling what's weak, or what is and is not a design problem.

Lasoor1 votes

Depends on the Challenger. The people I watch didn't say Jhin was weak.

I don't think there's anything more pathetic than a corporate hipster shill. None of the conclusions you draw have anything to do with the arguments you provided but the fact that you found a way to jerk off over being better than the rest of us plebs who don't get on our knees for Riot is really amazing. It takes a true degenerate to be able to masturbate to nothing and you've done it good sir. Congrats.

I did plan on seriously refuting some of your more ridiculously stupid conclusions but the more I typed the more annoyed I was at just how insanely stupid what you said was in it's entirety, so fuck it. I'm out, goodbye, have fun jerking off.

because i care about season fucking 7, not 3 5 or 6, i'm playing the game right now in season 7 i don't care that previous seasons were good

Every expansion is the new worst expansion and the game is dying - WoW players bitching for thirteen years that the devs killed the game. Still the most popular and well designed MMO on the market.

Ahristocats6 votes

Why should i care again?

how knowing this will solve the issue that 15 min games are destroying the quality of league that i love so much?

TyrekGoldenspear4 votes

Changing in a direction that you dont like != destroying the game.

You are not the only lever of quality. People like different things. There are people who don't mind the shorter games, as they get to play more games.

I won't say that balance isn't an issue, but when is it ever not?

Things change, but you don't have to change with it.

Ahristocats7 votes

Because destroying half of the champions that are supposed to scale into late game is sure fun yeah

dude, do you know how painful it is to never get level 16 as Sona? because the enemies are already at your inhib by 12 min, the pace of the game is cancer now and a lot of high elo players agree with me

now me and them not liking the direction of the game =/=destroying the game, however to not destroy the game you have to take all late game champs and make them relevant at by 15 min into the game

hence why adc are garbage right now but people still pick them, i stopped picking an adc and only play adc darius and win by 20 min everytime (except against cait and sometime ezreal)

Mira Arya Enthe2 votes

The game has been in this state for one month... one month. That is it.

Ahristocats7 votes

Yes? so? i'm making threads asking riot to fixe the game that's all and they have to fixe it

"I love how everyone insists the game is broken and Riot doesn't care" i got riot sotere answering to my thread saying that the pace of the game is too quick, what did he say?

"you're playing early game champions, this is normal that you're managing to close the game by 18 min, additionally you're doing suspeciouly well for someone arriving at gold last season"

tell me more mister captain obvious

Mira Arya Enthe2 votes

The boards don't ask for problems to be fixed 99% of the time. They flame Riot while asking for "problems" to be fixed. Just because you posted a meaningful post and it got a reply. Doesn't change the general bitchy state of these boards. But again I've seen it in WoW for 13 years "This game is dead, greedy devs only want money, I quit!" Comes back a month later among millions of other subs.

Ahristocats3 votes

idc about what board does, your thread is still inaccurate, the game has to be fixed and riot for now isn't fixing it

watch meddler answering to every questions. He deleted a question about rengar by a diamond rengar main, and he didn't answer to the question we all asked is anything being done to reduce the pace of the game? no answer at all

and don't tell me it's hard to do, fixing masteries giving potentially +20% bonus damage or more, fixing keystones power or first blood tower isn't hard to do especially first blood tower that has 72% win rate

Mira Arya Enthe5 votes

Whatever you vs meddler conspiracies are going on xD I am not interested.

Meanwhile yes. It is. They first have to make large decisions on how to change or remove keystones and rebalance the entire game around them being change or gone. In addition to other mastery changes. Then there is all the coding and tuning. Combined that could take weeks, only for the end result to be too shitty to put on pbe, and then back to the drawing board. And this also goes for how to manage lane importance and tower issues.

That is like walking up to a contractor and bitching "Why isn't my sink running! You have been remodeling the kitchen for one whole hour! Don't tell me it's hard because laying a couple pipes. See I said it so it is easy!" Sounds entitled and snobbish. Considering it takes days or weeks to take apart a kitchen, all the old shit, pipes and wires, and restructure it.

Riot got back from their holiday break, which they are entitled to, only about 2 weeks ago. Fixing the house the kids set on fire while they were gone. Takes longer than that.

I swear Diamond specifically is home to the most entitled players. When really they are neither the best, nor the majority.

you can swear it doesn't change anything, your garbage will remain garbage

Diamonds aren't the majority, Diamonds aren't the best but they are better than you or other players. Does that change something? i don't think it changes something because in the end it doesn't matter games end too quickly and this is an absolute truth

"i swear diamond specifically" no, you described how everyone works in their mind, diamonds aren't an exception.

stop being jealous and shut the fuck up about diamond players

Mira Arya Enthe1 votes

Mhm. Diamonds are better at the game. Probably because I have a total 2200 games since 2011. So I don't really expect to be better than them.

But I also don't bake up delusional stories about Riot conspiring against diamond players. And expect them to fix a massive mess of coding and balance in less time than it takes to sort out a new system in my store.

That is entitlement. If you ever watched Willy Wonka, it sounds like the little girl. "I DOOOON'T CARE! I WANT IT NOOOOOOOOOW!" Which regardless of what everyone does or doesn't think in their head. Is what self control exists to prevent.

Ahristocats2 votes

icefrog is the only and unique one that works for valve to code and balance dota 2: map+items+heroes+game itself

and he takes 6 months to update 110 heroes+nearly 15 items+change by 70% the map

and then, you want to tell me that 50 people working on a game, can't fixe something called "games end too quickly" in less than a month?

everyone can believe what they want, but in my eyes either icefrog is a monster or meddler and riot are just unable to fixe something WHEN THEY HAVE A COMMUNITY giving advises, and don't tell me the advises aren't good because first blood tower removed has to be done

I realize that Diamond players are more experienced, but don't equate that with always being more intelligent and having wortheir opinions.

If I remember correctly you made a thread about Knight's Vow being a garbage item becuase of the stats and pricing.

After being informed that it was a support item and that you failed to mention all the benefits it gave when linked to a partner, you asked how often the user would be next to someone.

A support. Item.

It doesn't take a Challenger to see the flaws in that argument.

What you say about plenty of people being elitist is true, but don't act elitist just becuase we decided not to spend our time grinding ranked like you did.

Ahristocats2 votes

Knight's vow is indeed garbage, but i failed to explain why. A former master tier support player explained to me why you can't build knight's vow on braum instead of locket and redemption

and thus, riot is buffing knight's vow on PBE

Diamond players are more experienced, more intelligent? i don't think they're automathically more inteligent (i said it above), however what i see above in this post is nowhere related to the main discussion, saying that diamonds are not the best nor the majority like lul who the fuck cares, why are we talking about diamond players in the first place? why are they related to the state of the game?

They are not related directly, but you have it in your head that people with the time to grind rank have a better idea about the state of the game than people who don't.

I can easily get the map awareness and shot calling and micromanagement that can take me to diamond.

What I don't have is time to grind ranked.

And you only want to look at an emblem, which by the way, is tarnished thanks to boosting.

Ahristocats1 votes

gAmes end too quickly, and diamonds have nothing to do with this, the dude above failed to explain why we shouldn't tell riot to fixe the game and invoked for some random reasons diamond players because 1 thing: -never in my life, with any conversation did i say diamond players know more than anyone

Best princess EU4 votes

attacking a portion of the player base is not something that someone has to do

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

It's no more painful than never reaching that level as Taric or any other support that scales into late, and I play support and realize this.

However realize that in no meta will every champ be viable.

The late game champs had their turn.

Let the early game champs thrive.

vOmvbrawfU2 votes

I didn't think anyone played WoW anymore lol? Didn't it's popularity die when the guy that now does League things did things there?

Mira Arya Enthe2 votes

WoW essentially told Ghostcrawler to leave. He had a lot of issues regarding game balance and favoritism of mages until it became a meme. WoW is still by far the most popular MMO in the world. And the latest expansion is doing rather well.

vOmvbrawfU1 votes

If WoW told the guy to leave because he was shitty at his job....why did rito hire him? That doesn't make much sense lol. It's like when Rex Ryan sucks at coaching the Jets, so the Bills hire him and he sucks there too.

Mira Arya Enthe2 votes

Iunno. I am not Riot. But if my job fired me. I am pretty sure other ones would still hire me.

vOmvbrawfU1 votes

That would probably depend on what they fired you for lol.

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

Alright then, let's start from the beginning. No more talk about rank or anything off tangent.

I would like to know what you would change in the game.

Ahristocats1 votes

Masteries bonus damage has to be tuned down, someone did the maths you can get potentially under a lot of conditions +27% bonus damage from masteries this is hilarious, if we remove all impossible-to-get conditions it's something like +17% bonus damage Thunderlord decree has to be nerfed, it's going to be nerfed but it also needs an other nerf no longer being proced by autoattacks

First blood tower removed completly, the bot lane tower is still weaker to prevent lane swap in lcs

Towers are now way more tankier, so they don't fall in one minion wave

do this and congratulation, the average duration of a game will be increased by 5 or 7 min

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

Do you think towers should be tankier in terms of health or resistances?

Also towers have 30% armor pen. You think it's a good idea to give them more as the game goes on? Or maybe some kind of damage reduction when multiple enemy champions are under it?

Ahristocats1 votes

30% armor pen is fine, they don't need more because when the game goes to 30 or 40 min towers are no longer supposed to protect you, but you should protect them

Now more hp or more resistances i think more resistances, if you know armor and magic penetration work on towers

if you give them more armor/mr, they will be better in early game and worse in late game if you give them more hp, they will be better at all stage of the game

you have to choose the one you need, do you want towers to be hard to get in late game? cause this is the reason dota have 50 min games, they have so much hp it's impossible to take them quickly unless you buy rapier (300 ad item)

TyrekGoldenspear2 votes

I think that health is best then.

After all the main issue is towers falling too quickly, so if they were tanky enough to take more than a couple of minion waves early game, this would definitely help.

Packun Flower2 votes

"But muh LCS" - Riot.

AHeroNamedHawke2 votes

Correction: China has way more people in it that dont care

Mannny2 votes

The fact that Riot chooses to work on new skins and buff stupid champions rather than fix the hell hole of broken champions we have today makes us think they don't care.

Lugg1 votes

The problem is that the highest levels of play really show how out of balance the game is. Every time you watch pro playoffs, there will only be maybe 5 champs per lane that are viable to win with. If you play any other champs, your chance of winning plummets.

It would be SO easy for Rito to hotfix OP champs with straight numbers nerfs until they can figure out a long term solution. Everyone knows within a week of a patch going live which champs are OP or broken.

JackMcSnipeyz1 votes

No, you know what happens when you nerf numbers? You get an empty husk of what that champ used to be.

You have living examples of that right now:kalista and azir, both made weak on porpase.

So no, simply nerfing numbers sometimes isnt enough

Lugg1 votes

Kalista and Azir are perfect examples, other champs need to be nerfed and they would be absolutely fine. The power creep, mobility creep, and super overloaded kits are killing the game.

Pyrophilia1 votes

Are we inhabiting the same reality?!

Let me just remind you that it took them AN ENTIRE YEAR to revert dynamic queue, a system of play that THEIR OWN PRO-TIER PLAYERS WERE BOYCOTTING in favour of in-house tournaments because it was just so unequivocally shit.

Let me remind you how Syndra mains warned Riot that the MYMU Syndra changes were bad for her and the game as soon as they were announced (let me just repeat for your benefit, Syndra MAINS, so the very people who stand to profit most from her being strong) and suggested exactly what to do instead and, again, it took Riot HALF A YEAR to get through their thick skulls just how obscenely broken Syndra was and do what her mains suggested HALF A YEAR AGO.

Let me also remind you how the exact same scenario happened with Karma (over)buffs, also resulting in a broken (and boring) shieldbot Karma that is now MANY MANY MOONS AFTER getting nerfed because Riot decided to have the epiphany offered to them by Karma mains back then.

HELLO??!!

Just to point out that three examples is already me being generous. Exhibit A, Dynamic Queue, is perfectly sufficient to declare this discussion adjourned. Their competence seems to be inversely proportionate to their growing (financial) caliber as a game-developing company.

Were you, like, fully awake while typing this post??

EDIT: Also, I'm really curious how long autofill will last, you know, the feature completely contradicting another system of theirs (role selection) that they had to nonetheless push so they could rebrand Dynamicshit into Flex Queue and not have matchmaking fall apart harder than the Titanic.

Glory ln Death2 votes

Funny how easy it is for people to ignore the 99% of things that are good and zoom in on the 1% of things that are bad, half of which are only actually mildly annoying.

Pyrophilia1 votes

Those percentages are in agonisingly painful need of revising. If you're arguing that Dynamic Queue was 1% of Season 6 League, then I'm worried for you.

They are making very bad decisions and many more things are problematic than not.

Lord Galvatron1 votes

It's not that the people think the game is broken and Riot isn't listening, it's just that people point out glaring issues the game has and Riot is sometimes mind-numbingly slow to respond.

We know they have the capacity to do it more quickly (hot-fixes) but they sometimes take their time, and it gets to people.
