Reworked Evelynn is too Binary

For anybody interested in new Evelynn, I've had a lot of chances to play her on PBE. From what I've seen, her late-game damage is absolutely incredible. Her burst is 195% AP + 4% Max HP per 100AP + 150%AP, and she shreds the enemy's magic resist by 35%. Late-ish game with 400 AP and base damage, that's 2650 + 22% Max HP magic damage, not counting two applications of Lich Bane. It's a lot of damage, if Evelynn can make it to that point.

My problem with this is that to balance that, Riot has made her early game and her target acquisition pretty bad. She no longer has the speed from W to close in on a target, she runs out of mana, clears slowly, and is constantly at or less than 300 HP early in the jungle, she has to wait 2.5 seconds before going in for the kill... all in all, they've given her a lot of unreliability to go with that heavy damage. Will she make it to late game? Will she survive long enough to get to her target? Will she get to her target fast enough to charm them (it's a 2.5-second window)?

Now, you can call this two things. You could say "Oh, that means that she has counterplay! I can harass her early game, or run away when she marks me, or steal her blue! That's great!" I think that's how Riot is viewing this. The other way to look at it is to see that, "Hey, that seems like a really binary playstyle. If she gets to you late game with 400 AP, you're dead without being able to do anything. If not, she explodes and does nothing."

I think that right now she's too binary. She has too much damage, balanced by too much unreliability. And it's going to make her a pain to play and to balance. Riot is going to see that she can't survive early game, and buff that. Then she'll be too capable of just running onto people and murdering them mid game, so they'll nerf her ratios. Then she'll be stuck in that balance hell where she's super strong against people who can't work together, and terrible against people who can.

I'd like to see her lose some of her late-game damage for better target selection, instead. Right now, she has no way of getting to her marked target if she doesn't have Protobelt or Flash. If she had extra movement speed toward her target or a longer range on E out of stealth, she'd be more reliable.

Its way better than old Eve, never doing enough damage to remain relevant and hit powerspikes

...so if you play well as Eve you win and as you play badly as her you lose. There's nothing wrong with being feast-or-famine as long as player skill dictates if you end up feasting or famished.

when people refer to her "early game" they usually mean 1-5. the instant she hits 6 she becomes a huge threat because she can tower dive. her 1-5 is actually not as weak as people think. you can still pull off a gank with charm on over extended targets and practically guarantee a kill. you can also proc that charm from 800 units away if you land her Q and you can cast it from 1000 units away.

dont underestimate her early game, its actually pretty strong. just because you no longer have stealth does not mean you cant gank... only bad eve players think that way. but hey, if people say her "early game" is bad then let them think that way.
