WTF RIOT! ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE ALL THE LOW ELO PLAYERS QUIT!? RANKING ISSUES

Hey everyone!

I hope everyone is feeling great. As we all know, the new season began! I was so glad to finally reset my current rank, which was Silver 5. I did my placements and went 7-3 with some carries and bad games, which I lost. And the final moment came! BRONZE 5? I would have understood a Bronze 2 limit 3, but that's a insult to all the hours I've invested! And what about my placement games? Why even bothering doing them if I'm starting there anyways? I would have rather gotten B5 and grinded straight away with those 10 games. Getting out of there the first time was hard enough, but now I'm sent back to the rock bottom again!? I don't feel like it's a fair system. I played some very good games that weren't of bronze caliber. I'm super frustrated because this means all the progress I did is now lost? I mean, people in general are tired of this crap! Afterwards, RIOT complains about boosters.... well this is mostly why they exist... Even though you play well, the ranking system doesn't allow you to climb properly! And I'm sure that plenty of people feel the same way! PLEASE, FIX IT! Don't forget to give a thumbs up to this topic if you feel the same way!

PS : Sorry if this post sounds aggressive, I just finished my placements.

By a very frustrated players that feels betrayed by a game he loved and spent way too much time on,

So... there's a huge misconception about promos that it's supposed to grant you something ANYWHERE CLOSE to your real rank.

It's not supposed to do that. It's supposed to lower you. A lot. So you have to climb to your "real" rank. That's the whole idea behind the ranked system.

It's called a reset for a reason. Higher ELO players can get set back multiple entire tiers.

I know the reset is supposed to set you behind in your rank, but let's be realistic here... Seriously, bronze is hard enough as it is because you have to carry all the games yourself. I had to play a lot of games to get out, I wasn't good and to be honest, I deserved my bronze rank. Now, I just feel like it's a tidious process that you always need to do. Wouldn't it be more encouraging for low elo players to not start from the rock bottom again?

i understand what cyano is saying about it setting you way lower than your previous rank. However, why is it sending someone back to their league (the gold example above) if you're going to send challenger, master, diamond, platinum players back a whole league if not multiple in some cases, and everyone in bronze is silver is automatically sent back at least a league, one would think that no specific leagues would get preferential treatment.... also to even it out even more it should be placing into 5th and 1st divisions. for example: someone who was platinum 2 or higher should be place in G1 whereas plat 4, 5, and golds 1 and 2 get placed at G5 etc.(provided they do well in placements, if they dont they go lower.) because if placements do affect mmr and then macthes afterward obviously will, the current system will lower some players mmr's unfairly for getting matched against people they should not be getting matched against. challenger, master, and diamond, i dont know what to say for them. Theres no way to place them lower without unfair matches

The reason that gold player probably got placed back in gold was their mmr was significantly higher than where they were. Probably won a significant string of games that set their mmr super high and even with the losses if you place at an mmr of high gold or plat the placement should put you around low gold... right?

It was my understanding that an MMR reset is performed at the start of a new season. They take your current MMR, halve it, and then add 600. That defines your new season rank more than 10 games that may swing your MMR a little. "Placements" are more for new players who all start out with the Default 1200 MMR which I believe is Silver V MMR.

After initial placement, LP is used to gain ranks instead of MMR. If MMR was used, some people would never get out of Bronze.
