Experience with another MOBA

I have been playing Heroes of the Storm(HOTS) lately because all my friends who didn't just quit league this season started playing it. Now the game is more linear in a way and I did choose league back in the day (which was an obvious choice back then). But I found myself having more fun having some aspects that make MOBAs and made league great back in the day. Worth to note that pretty much all the things I mention didn't use to be like this back in the golden ages of league (pre s5) where the community actually had a positive opinion on league.

Damage is lower: A MOBA isn't an FPS where you should kill a target in 2 taps, not even all FPS are like that. Obviously in CSGO you have to perfectly aim that headshot to get the kill, whereas a Rengar jumping on you from stealth by clicking on you 5 second ago isn't fun.

Cooldowns are higher: Nowadays in league everybody runs around with 40% cdr. Supports can almost permaCC, Khazix can Q you 3 times before you can retaliate, Akali has a movement ability up constantly. In HOTS using a ability will mean that it is going to be on cooldown not using an auto and having it back up, or just waiting in stealth that 1 second to have it back up.

Mobility is lower/more balanced: No champions in hots as much mobility as Akali for example, also to have mobility HOTS champions usually sacrifice something in return. For example if you wanna have flash (there aren't summoner spells) you have to sacrifice another lvl20 talent and those are really good like, some of them are basically a 3 seconds invulnerability. HOTS champions usually if they have a jump it means it doesn't help with damage, obviously another champion would be at a disadvantage who has 0 jumps and has the same damage on an ability. Whereas in league a lot of them has high damage on the mobility abilites or having high mobility without a tradeoff. For example Akali have mobility (and the shroud) to avoid any melee character while out dpsing them. It happens for ranged too but melee is just insane.

Bruisers exist: Now in HOTS almost all meta teamcomps consist of a Tank, Bruiser/sololaner, Mage/other damage, ADC/other damage, Ranged heal support. It gives a very good balance of 2-3/3-2 melee/ranged. I don't know if since s3 there was any meta where tanks and bruisers where viable at the same time. Tanks are garbage (not icluding Ornn) today but I wanna talk about bruisers. Bruisers in HOTS are the dedicated sololaners/duelists which is logical as bruisers are built to 1v1 having the bruiser kit. A tank outtanks you, a damage hero outdamages you in teamfights. In HOTS a bruiser can 1v1 any other role any part of the game (unless they are highly fed) if they play correct. Whereas in league good luck dueling a Vayne that plays right with a bruiser, you can't even touch her. My personal favorite is Jax vs Veigar. If Veigar builds item 3030 and item 3905 (and maybe even has glacial augment) he can permaCC Jax while 1 combo being enough to oneshot him, and Jax is supposed to be the best duelist in the game. Veigar scales better, has insane aoe CC, aoe Damage, burst damage, better waveclear. So why would you pick Jax?

Honestly balance is just killing league. After a weak of playing HOTS a thought about playing league then saw Soraka and Sona top dominating toplane. Now this completely turned me away from playing league but reading how upset the community was with toplane being so bad I waited. And now they are nerfing Soraka. The support that is currently 6th place with 51% winrate compared to other supports gets nerfed, because she is 1th place with 57% winrate compare to other toplaners. Toplane/bruisers are THAT bad, and we go completely the other way around to fix one surface issue when the underlying issue is bluntly obvious and undeniable. And don't even talk about how high-damage is a general issue but effect bruisers the most as they are the dedicated class to deal damage over time and mitigate damage over time. Honestly I thought about playing again, but 10 years of it getting worse having it at all time worst, being promised to get a fix in preseason and only getting it made worse, I am just completely disgusted and alienated to play.

You're having fun with it because it's different. When you "main a game", you hard focus on its problems more, regardless of how warranted it is.

There's a reason HotS ain't making it.

Bye, have a beautiful time.

Edit: I got downvoted for telling someone to go have fun in a game, what?

You will quit hots soon enough and be back to League when this happens too often to you:

-Someone dies right before an objective spawns -Being down 2-3 levels or more so can't contest the objective. -People doesnt wanna group for the objective.

So yeah, not a very fun game.

I couldn't get into hots. I tried DotA and love the strategies, variety and game in general but it's just too long to play much of.

Not only that you dont have the cancerous community making the game unplayable.

I'd play hots if solo xp existed.

Basically a dumbed-down MOBA compared to others so not that fun for me

hots doesn't have items so it's way easier to balance.

Glacial augment is super oppressive. There needs to be an activated ignore slow item in the game. Quicksilver sash does not remove ground frost. Spooky ghosts are way to long ranged, so there is no skill expression involved. It's worse than being suppressed for some champions like Ashe. Doesn't matter how far ahead you are, and your whole team abandons you.

Valla is like a better version of Vayne lmao

on the other hand hots is kinda boring, cuz it feels too linear

I like Vainglory and Smite on the side personally

Vainglory because matches tend to be shorter and it feels more simple while still having nice options and rewards, and Smite because I like 1 character from smite a lot and its fun yelling Roma invicta

you want a more casual game, go play HOTS.

I'm pretty sure League's champion is designed to be played with "quick reactions" which is why a lot of champion has high agilities/dashes, you know, to constantly keep you pumped and well, "excites" you throughout the match

Smite is a good pick if you wanna see some semblance of a split-off of Season 2-3 League, with random stuff thrown in later AP and AD items are exclusive to champs that can build AP and AD respectively There are items in the game (The Masks) that provide true risk and reward (ex. Item bought by Mages, Marksmen, Assassins -20% Damage Taken -20% Damage Dealt -20% Healing Done) There are items to AURA ITEMS ARE IN

EQUIVALENTS OF Thornmail - Doesn't slow attacks Spell shield item - Gives dual resist and health, not DAMAGE STATS Abyssal Scepter - Gives health, also MR and AP

There's also items with stats and passives that make more sense All Boots - provide non-resist stats, such as AD, AP, Mana, regen, or tenacity on more than one boot type Guinsoo's - Is not a HYBRID item, gives AD, AS, MS Phage - Gives AD, AS, MS, and MS/ghost on hit. Is not a health item, because champs that would build health should probably look into other forms of MS Wit's End - Has an AD/AR equivalent BOTRK - doesn't provide lifesteal, and has different scalings above and below a certain level of health. Makes it useful against tanks, less useful against non-tanks, making it an anti-tank item instead of an all-purpose core item
