The perfect queue system? [solos-duos-trios] and [Ranked fives]
So, in this post i am going to assume there are most solo players, 2nd most duos, and fewest trio players. All these go into the same "dynamic queue":
Solos play with other solos, and possibly 1 duo per team: (1+1+1+1+1) or (1+1+1+2) Duos either play with a trio or solos: (2+3) or (1+1+1+2) Trios only play with duos (3+2)
As you can see, solos have it exactly like solo queue - only a little fewer duos, as some gets "taken" by trios Duos sometimes have an advantage because they are the most organized part of the team, and sometimes they are at a disadvantage, because they are with a more coordinated trio. Trios seems to always get the long end of the stick, but in my system they HAVE TO FILL. This way, they can get the first and best duo with the same MMR as them - and the duo would always get their primary roles.
Ranked 5v5: I think Ranked Teams will come back soon, as Dia+ can't any play with 5 friends in ranked. Ranked Teams is as we knew it from Season 5, where you can queue up as any 5 friends, and play vs other 5-man teams. The team has its own MMR+rank (like S5)
"Fill-queue" - HIGHLY EXPERIMENTAL In my system, so far premade 4's have to go - they are the cornerstone of DynQ problems. However, my solution is: Let a ranked team of 4 queue up in the Ranked Queue. It will then fill with a solo player from the Fill Queue. If you queue up as Fill Queue, you only select 1 position. If a 4-man is queueing, you join then in your preferred role in their ranked team If no 4-man is queuing, you get put as a solo player in the "standard" queue (with guaranteed role). The 4-man get LP-losses/gains in their ranked team, and the solo player get losses/gains in "Standard" queue.
What do you think? The experimental queue could fail, and will just have to be removed then - and we would have no 4-mans. But the other team sizes should all be happy - solos play like they used too, duos and trios can both exist while destroying the solo experience, and Ranked 5's will be back! I really think this system would work.
