Kled remounting: full invulnerability, untargetability, or what?

4 times in my last game, I died just after hearing the gong and seeing my Rage bar at 100%. I thought Kled was invulnerable until he got Skaarl's HP back. So, what gives?

It's full invulnerability + untargetability. Basically a temporary Bard ult. No damage will transfer over except DoT (read: stuff like Ignite), nor will any status effects or CC.

That's what I thought too, but you sure about that? Because 2 other people are saying different things.

Yes, I am sure about that.

Then how come I died -- 4 times, so I'm pretty sure about it -- AFTER the gong but BEFORE getting Skaarl's HP back?

oh fuck I misread

I read it as dismounting. My bad.

For remounting, the whole thing is really dumb because the animation of Skaarl getting back actually matters, meaning he can die during said animation when he should've been remounted already. For remounting, he's completely normal and vulnerable.

Been on the receiving end of this. Was very confusing. You'd think he'd be invulnerable when remounting and not when de mounting.

Untargerable and invincible during dismount. This is for clarity so both players can adjust to what just happened.

Completely vulnerable until after Kled has remounted. Adds a bit of fairness to the issue getting the rage bar maxed and giving the other guy a chance to nuke you before you get 60% hp back.

So the dismounting/remounting mechanics are not symmetrical, he isn't in the same "state" while remounting as he is while dismounting?

Nope.

Think of it like this: it doesn't make sense to hold the Kled player responsible for dismounting as he can't directly control the action, so it makes sense to allow him and the other player 0.5 seconds to realize "OK, I'm mini-Kled now, and I can't build courage for a bit."

As with remounting, there's a rage bar and a loud audio cue that indicates, "Hey Skaarl's coming back. Form change time." There's more of a heads up, and it reduces the issue of "I got cheated, he got back 1000 HP and I couldn't kill him before it happened." This is actually nice since Kled can build 100 courage from 1 auto plus all W procs plus all 5 pellets from Q landing. It still gives the opponent a chance to stop him from healing and probably winning the fight.

He's only untargeateable when he gets dismounted, having none of that when he gets it back is to make it fair, so the enemy knows "Oh shit! He's getting back onto his ride! KILL HIM!!!" and the enemy can at least have a chance to counter him, otherwise it goes into an awkward stare until they fight again.

it's not symmetrical because of gameplay reasons, you're effectively healing over 60% health, if on top of that you'd be dropping aggro and becoming invulnerable it'd be simply too much for one passive.

Nope, it's fair play so that people still have a chance to kill him before his bar fills up, not sure if he gains some sort of damage reduction during the moment between the health bar popping up and him being able to move tough... Because I don't think I've seen people beating up Kled easy once he got back on his mount, most because they already bursted him down.

My personal grip is that it's incredibly frustrating to all-in someone hoping to get the mount back, to indeed reach 100 Rage, and to die in the half-second between the gong at 100 Rage and the moment the HPs actually come back.

You have to try and outplay your opponent when that kind of stuff happens, try flashing into a bush, retreat, use barrier, something that might help you and then you'll see if it helps or not in your scenario.

DeathBurst1 votes

Well, usually you have used all of that to manage to reach 100 Rage in a desperate situation in the first place, and you're out of tools, and you were counting on the HP back to survive. ^^'

My problem is just a perception issue, on a rational level, I understand why he can't be untargettable, but knowing you would have had 800 or 1000 HP, would you have lived half a second more, and then it would've been an easy fight, that's so annoying...

JayHog19921 votes

Trust me, any easier and Kled would be nerfed, be glad there are flaws in him.
