Singed and the Nature of Supports

(I hope my thoughts come out as intended) So here we are near the end (I'm assuming) of the whole Singed Support Debacle and as a support main i can understand the want to spice up what can seem like a repetitive role, It is not the least played role in the game for nothing. but my opinion is worthless so I would like to start a discussion on the Following topics

  1. What Is a Support
  2. What Is Expected of Them
  3. Is the champion pool as limited as it looks at first glance
  4. What game play limitations do you agree to
  5. How much is the Carry expected to fend for themselves (not necessarily in a 2v1 situation but that as well)
  6. To those who do not play support, what about the support is unappealing to you and lastly a fun one 7.Your Favorite Support/Carry duo mine is Alistar /Kalista

Feel free to expand on these, with the support singed humbug and the push by Riot to expand the support player base i think now is the time to really look under the hood at the role that I and others love so much

There's spicing up a role with an off-meta pick, and then there's throwing all conventional strategies out of the window and forcing your team to cooperate.

If I queue up for jungle, I'm expected to jungle. If I want to play a weird champion, like Braum or Vladimir, that's fine, as long as I still do my job and try to win. However, if I just run up to top lane and proxy farm while taking their krugs, that's not okay, because now I'm disrupting my teammates.

Point is, don't expect people to respect your strategy if you won't do the same for theirs.

1.) The first thing that comes up in my head is that a support aids the team by either cc, heals and shields, buffs, and possibly debuffs? Not sure on the last one. 2.) It depends on the champion you select in the team comp. I like to play shen support. I like to play Alistar, and Leona. Basically tank engages. It's my job in team fights to initiate the fight, and make good favorable initiations. What I have noticed is it is a lot easier to do that when you have good vision and have an idea on where they are. I have plenty of times shen dash into a 3 v 5 before. Other roles are sustain, so like Nami or Janna with some cc. You provide favorable trades in the lanning phase, and provide boosts. So obviously, you position yourself differently in team fights compared to the tanks. The team expects from you from the champion that you pick. 3.) Another support pick that is non meta is kennen. A lot of the eastern regions played kennen into support maybe a year or two ago. There's shen, poppy, trundle, nautilus, annie, brand, believe it or not morgana was thought to only be a mid laner, and then there is finally tham kench. That was busted out in worlds last year and totally wrecked NA. Point? It isn't limited. 5.) In my view, your ADC shouldn't have to depend on you, and should be able to manage by him or herself. However, it is your idea to "aid" them, and make their trades favorable. But in team fights, it is your job to provide support for the entire team. If their team is engaging on the ADC, it is your job to kite for the ADC, same with mid, or jungle. And if your team wants to fight, land that good cc or speed boost a teammate or something. 7.) One I would love to play again would be Vayne and Poppy. Even if you don't get your cc off you zone the enemy lane very hard.
