I Think Mark Twain Sums Up Why People Get In Trouble And Blame The Guy The Were Arguing With

My favorite is:

“Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”

-George Carlin

This is my philosophy as to why i stopped arguing with a lot of people on the boards.

My grandpa used to always say "never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience"

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I actually remember seeing a george carlin special that had something fun concerning this. I forget the exact line, but he was referencing the whole iraq oil stuff and said something like:

"Everyone in life has had a scapegoat for their problems. The ancient egyptians had the jews, to help build the pyramids -talks aside- this isn't the first time the jews have been scapegoated, and probably won't be the last -stops-. The americans first had the blacks, remember that? Bunch of lazy pricks they were back in the day, so much so that they decided it'd be EASIER (puts a ton of emphasis on that word) to brave the seas not once but TWICE (again, emphasis) just so they wouldn't have to do an honest day's job. Now the americans are using the middle east as an excuse and I find it rather hilarious. Too many people claim that they want to put in a hard day's work -talks aside- remember, this was a nation built on the idea of people working hard and getting sh't done -stops- yet when the pressure is on many of them choose to just stiff someone else with it."

Maybe people make excuses so they don't look like they did wrong. It can be so wrong in fact they still make excuses to lighten it.

I think that's more accurate.

It's true, but only if the onlookers are fools as well.

I've been doing it wrong my whole life

Everything is so clear now

It all makes sense

I finally understand why the mute button is the superior defense against toxicity... it's like my eyes have been opened to a whole new world

Thank you Mark Twain for the quote, and thank you Jon for posting this
