What If: Riven's Runic Blade passive

ProfDrDeath··2 votes·555 views

A thought I had this morning:

What would happen if Riven's passive, Runic Blade, worked like Ashe's passive? In the regard that, instead of gaining bonus damage based on her AD alone, her bonus damage would come from a combination of critical strike chance and AD, but she would not be able to critically strike based on random chance.

A balancing method. Although just giving riven flat AD amplification would be better; like 10+5 per ultimate level. We could couple it by making her ult a passive that adds 25 range onto her basic attacks per level.

Riven is fine. Not all that strong right now, actually

Shes feast or famine. How do you fix feast or famine?

Get rid of the burst in exchange for sustained damage.

By nerfing rivens Q and changing its ratio to something reasonable (its 1.8 bonus AD right now) you can give way to different things. Wind slash is also very anti-fun because it just excaerbates her feast or famine; Burst then ult, if you dont kill them with your ult youre dead.

That's her whole thing. Certain champs (notably, assassins, of which Riven shares elements with) are made to either snowball on their lane and move their team along, or not really do much.

And feast or famine is toxic when ahead and useless when behind. However, major reworks for popular champions are not things riot does lightly.

Do you know who rengar is? Hes had at least one major feast or famine rework.

And Rengar is still an assassin, so I'm not really sure what you brought that up for.

Yes, for some champions the feast of famine playstyle does not fit with them (recently, Fiora). But assassins as a class are made to be that way.

no shes not. she is a very safe and solid laner with very good offensive and defensive capabilities who is strong at almost any point in the game but for that solidness, she pays with raw power of which she simply doesnt have super much.

its only that riven players play her in a very retarded, ineffective way but i dont really care about that. let riven players do what ever they want and let yasuo players enjoy their 1.7 KDA and their illusion of skill.

it simply shows you, as all riven players, have no understanding of the champion and also the game. but thats exactly my point: you can have as little understanding of the game as you want, you just cant change the game based on your inexperience, and im thankful for that.

What if, they made Riven into an actual combo-based champ, with abilities that transform depending on the order you use them? So like, Q>E>W>R would do something ENTIRELY different from E>Q>W>R, which would do something different than W>E>Q>R... you get the idea.

It would be neat if she had actual combos to go with her homage to fighting games, rather than just the same, bug-ridden spamming she always does.

that sounds actually like a really good idea. i'd like that.

Riot wouldnt do this under the guise " BURDEN OF KNOWLEDGE".

they want to keep thier game short and simple but imo this would be a pretty cool idea.
