Keystones masteries didnt have this much of a power difference
Sure, you could argue that at when the system came out Thunderlords or Grasp of the undying was superior to the other keystones, but these issues were adressed very early on during season 6. My point is that every keystone(okay, except maybe Bond of stone, but even that was reworked into Stoneborn pact), had about the same amount of strenght. Warlords, Fervor, DFT, Thunderlord, Strenght of the ages, hell even the rarely used Stromraiders, they offered the same volume of power. I cant name a single one that was stronger than the others, outside of a few cases, like the ones mentioned above.
But what about the new keystones? At first glance they look like stronger versions of older runes, Thunderlord is Electrocute, Fleet is Warlords and Grasp is well....Grasp. Overall seems fine, (Im not going to discuss whether the overall powercreep is a problem or not.) until we throw in some of the other runes in to the mix. Lets see what i mean.
On paper PTA and Lethal tempo would offer a nice choise between raw dmg and atk speed, but we all know that outside of like 3 adcs, no one would ever use Lethal tempo over PTA. On the other hand Fleet and PTA are roughly on the same power level.
Moving onto the Domination tree, Electrocute is almost always better than Hail of Blades or even Dark harvest(then again, there are champs like Karthus who obviously prefer it over Electrocute.) I have to mention that Predator here is a reasonable choise, even if its user pool is far smaller.
Over at Sorcery, Comet is the most viable choise for most mages, simply because Aery's damage is lower, and Phase rush's MS is not so useful on an avarage mage. They are not neceserarly bad, Comet just tends to be better. However the power level of the two weaker options is in no way comparable to runes in other trees. If you compare a Phase rush and a Conqueror user, the latter will have the advantage since that runes simply offers way more power.
Since the introduction of Conqueror, Grasp kinda lost its purpose, since most bruisers who used Grasp, can now use Conqueror, which offers a lot more power instead.
And don't even get me started on Inspiration Keystones. The only somewhat viable option is Kleptomancy, but just beacuse every champion that uses it, has a really easy way of doing so. Ezreal, Gangplank, Kayle, Illaoi, Viktor. They all have an abilty that allows them to utilise this rune to the fullest. For most other champions, every other rune tends to be stronger. Glacial is only used by some mages, who utilise the active item aspect of it, otherwise its overshadowed by damage dealing runes. And when was the last time u've seen someone actually use Unsealed Spellbook?
So overall, i think that the new runes are very varying in their power when it comes to comparing them to each other. Whereas i dont think this was a problem with the old keystones. But im interested in your toughts on the topic.
