why do people put themselves at a big disadvantage at champ select?

I don't understand when you hard counter. yourself. in lane or jungle. for no reason. like. I know am supposed to win games to climb. but its very hard when my top laner decides to take his 35% winrate gnar against irelia. which is one of his hardest counters after irelia was first picked.

this guy gets ganked for. jungler gets fb on the irelia. goes 0/7 top lane. i get a double kill at bot lane. after that ww and irelia and mid 5 man ganks the only winning lane because thats what you do i guess.

kha zix picked into warwick. literally. the champion that counters every single assassin in the jungle.

i don't get this. don't do this. like. you can call them skill matchups. not when you have 40% winrate on gnar. what is this.

give yourself and us an even chance to win against the enemy don't start the game off 60/40. at champ select. don't play champions. you have no idea how to play at all. let alone. against your hardest fucking counter.

i would consider my self trolling if i pick master yi into teemo. or veigar into talon. etc.

especially when you have 71% WINRATE ON MALPHITE.

i don't understand the psychology behind this. you've been playing for 3-4 seasons. you yet don't know who and what hard counters who. that takes a cpl months of league.

its too silly to do that. if you main the champion or at least. your experienced with the match up. then thats up to you. however when you have no experience and your bad with the champion i take it as trolling for he least

  1. A lot of people are one tricks.
  2. they might not know the counter.
  3. counters don't mean much of anything if there's a gap in skill

they are both. gold. huge gap and skill. 35% winrate gnar. the guy even mains irelia.

Both being gold doesn't mean they're both of equal skill. and looking at his gnar, he's 41% winrate gnar, before that game he was 43%. unfortunately for him, the irelia he was playing against has a 93% winrate with her.

my point is, picking a champion against someone that's supposed to counter you doesn't actually mean you're definitely going to lose against them. It wasn't a smart decision on his part, but not that big of a deal.

Most likely they just don't know the hard counter, or feels very confidence in what they pick. And kha'zix suppose to have a slightly favored match up into warwick statistically acutally. source from champion.gg But yea I agree picking yourself into a counter match in rank seems pretty silly.

he might not top lane often?

ever since my main Nidalee lost top and mid, making me support and jungler the only matchups i really know are what support should i pick vs thier adc/ support, and would it be a REALLY bad idea to pick nid jungle into thier comp.

i mean sure i still know the OLD matchups for my old lanes.. but that data is 2 seasons old, I'm sure most of that isn't relevant anymore.

then again.. if this was ranked... no excuses

well from his played ranked pool this guy mains top. anyway w/e. but like you said. its very silly. if he played a champion that he knows how to play. i wouldn't care for the pick. but not both a champ ur bad at and its your hardest counter.

make USE of your pick order.

Several reasons to go over this:

  1. Not everyone knows the hard counter champion for every champion.
  2. Not everyone knows that certain people can build certain ways to make hard counter even more ridiculous in comparison or even go as far to flip the hard counter so instead of you hard countering someone, they can hard counter you. (Namely that feeling where you get wrek'd by a Riven while your Fiora and then you play Riven with basically the same kit yet somehow get wrek'd by a fiora. Both situations in top lane).
  3. Not everyone owns a large sum of champions so especially early on they won't be able to grab every champion, much less buy every champion on a IP budget.
  4. Not everyone picks champions based on things like 'kit countering' and would rather play a champion they like to main or like to play because its fun for them to play as.
  5. If everyone had their pick decisions more on champions they like to play instead of playing the top tier op champions currently or counter picks, then we'd likely have alot less toxic and people having a more enjoyable time playing the game instead.

you cant justify something by listing subjective reasons. there is no reason to not give your best effort in a ranked game.

Either they've had good luck with the matchup or think they can manage. personally i play what i'm comfortable with if i don't know the matchup.

how do i get down voted for asking a question regarding a statement the OP made?

Dynikus1 votes

I'm guessing because cc counters assassins, his ult locks them down pretty well.

i figure warwick is a farm champ til 6 who cnat provide pressure til then is at a disadvantage to junglers like LeeSin Khazix Evelynn Shaco
