Thoughts on trackers knife?

I've been taking up jungling lately, and as a support main, it just doesn't feel right not having my item 2049. I love me some vision. So I've been building a lot of item 3711. It feels good to me, and I love how much more of the map is available to me as a jungler. Honestly, a lot of my "ganks" is just me coming over to ward a laners river bush or something. But I don't see people take it if they're not playing LeeSin, so I'm wondering how much I'm gimping myself by not building a item 3706 or item 3715 instead?

Chilling smite just isn't good, the cooldown takes forever, and even than it just feels like it doesn't do much. The problem with chilling smite at the moment is this.

Does chiling smite bring more utility, than Saber brings dueling?

The old concept was, saber was mean't for dueling while chilling was meant for ganking, but with how they were designed it was clear no matter how you buffed them, one of them was going to be superior.

So at the moment it's

Saber-For ganking and fighting Knife- For keeping tabs on the enemy jungler

Answer to your question TLDR- No nothing is wrong with knife, but you should almost never get chilling smite.

Doesn't chilling smite help when you're ganking by a lot? I take it on immobile gankers who are reliant on skillshots like chogath and amumu.

I use it on Mao'Kai. I wish the wards lasted a bit longer like scale with level or something.

You're only gimping yourself depending on the champion. Mao'Kai already has a bunch of CC and point click engage so I don't need blue smite. Red smite would make me tankier but I don't really need that extra tankyness. So I would rather have wards.

If I'm playing Kindred, warding would be nice but I would rather be able to kite better with blue smite or invade and duel with red smite cause you auto attack a lot.

For Nidalee, wards are nice because Nidalee is so mobile. You don't need blue smite to kite because so mobile. You don't need red smite because you're not in a fight for that long. Wards make your invades easier.

For fiddlestick you would not take red smite at all because you rarely auto attack, only take it if you're really scared of one enemy champion close range damage. Blue smite is great because it can help you position with your ult. You don't really ward that much on fiddlestick.

For Rek'Sai blue smite will help with ganks a lot because she only has her E dash. It will help you stay on your target after you knock them up. You could also go red smite if you want so you can duel, new rek'sai duels better now supposedly. You don't need wards that much.

On Zac I would take ward smite because he already has a ton of CC and doesn't really need red smite because he mostly uses his W for damage. You can ward up for your team and stuff, as a tank you don't need to worry about damage that much.

Thanks for the advice here. I've been playing Sejuani mostly, what would you say about her?

Play style dependant. If your being gank heavy, saber, if you are focusing on invading and tracking the enemy jungler, trackers.

Sejuani is great at single target lock down. For her I would go blue smite so that I can always have that one champion within reach of CC and limit everything they can do. This is even more true if you don't have many melee teamfights, having that slow can help you land auto attacks and W so that you can get a stun without having to use your ultimate.

Compared to Mao'Kai who has point click stuff you wouldn't need blue smite but for Sejuani it's more useful and helps with ganking.

Fiddle could have some use for it. Being able to sneak up on enemies and ult them is broken and feels satisfying
