Why does Irelia's ult even bother trying to heal her?

25% of damage dealt to champions AFTER ARMOR means that Irelia will be lucky to heal 200 HP with all 4 shots in a team fight. It honestly feels like a tacked-on effect nowadays, and that Irelia could get some power freed up if the ult didn't heal at all.

Am I just talking shit?

It heals for more against champions and has strike-through.

Which means you can potentially hit all 5 enemy champions, multiple times... meaning the healing will be immense.... of course if you seriously low-ball it the way you are doing, the numbers will appear very low.

It will never be all strikes against all 5 champions. But it will also never be a single target for all 4 strikes unless you are really really bad.

Here's the problem: Irelia never gets armor penetration, so that 25% of damage dealt is going to be pretty dang low against any team with even 1 armor item per player.

item 3065 is a common defensive item on Irelia that augments her healing.

Agreed. I also run her with the Runic Armor Mastery for another 8%.

Uhh, its heal is quite good if you dump it across a minion wave in lane. And with its low cooldown its pretty reusable like that.

It tries to heal her because it once did heal for an actual amount.

its damn good in the early lvls. that slight health keeps u alive in that first 1 v 1 skirmish maybe even 1 v 2. Late game it works well as wave clear with a relatively low cd.
