Kassadin
How hard is Kassadin to learn and play well? I've heard two different things.

Im thinking about buying him but idk how strong he is rn dont want to buy him find out hes garbage, then feel like i wasted ip
Kassadin is a champion that really benefits from long games. He's a super late game champ with a chappy early game and below average mid game.
Early game is when it's going to be the hardest to play him, as you're mainly going to be investing in a rod or a tear so you can be relevant late game. This means that you won't be able to buy damage and that you're pretty harmless early.
Since his gap closer is his ult, things are going to be abysmally difficult for you until 6.
He's fairly hard to play since he has to try really hard to become a threat early to mid, but after that his difficulty begins to fall down in most match ups.
So on a scale of 1~5, I'd give him a 4 or 5, depending on if your enemy is ad or ap, for early game, 3 for mid, and 2 early.
He has a lot of builds that work with him, so depending on what you buiod, it could be easier or harder.
Tl;dr: Don't pick Kass unless you're in it for the long game or confident that you can get fed. If you flop early, you will come back hard late game, but you'll be useless until then. Do great early and you'll never really fall off.
Still tl;dr: Kass strong late. Weak early. Good burst. Make smile.
He's definitely a lot harder to play than he used to be. I'd probably suggest Leblanc if that's the play style you're looking for.
hes fairly easy to do well on, but certain lanes can be crazy difficult. he has a really strong mid-late
You can avoid his sub par mid game if you go Hextech GLP route. You get amazing burst with Gunblade, amd a decent amount of mana/health from the item. It also really depends how you build him. I personally go GLP/Seraphs, depends on matchup>CDR Boots>Lich Bane>Ludens Echo> Rabadons Deathcap>Zhonyas/Abyssal.
