How to play against Trundle
LAst night I was playing against him and I could not for the life of me figure out how..He denied me farm and I could do anything once he got 3 levels above me. Is there any advice anyone can give me?

For champions play Teemo or Kayle because they counter him pretty hard. Also, don't build tanky because his ult becomes stronger the harder to kill you are.

I didn't know that..interesing..
well Trundle is a pure melee champ ... the only way (excluding ult) to deal damage to you is walking up to you and hit you in the face ...
even he has a slow and a speed up ... ranged champions with mobility won't receive much damage
Well ... what was the exact matchup?
once he got 3 levels above me
Um what the heck were you doing that let him get 3 levels above you?
dying and not getting ganks from his jungler most likely. Once Trundle gets ahead, he'll mostly stay ahead.

3 levels ahead is inexcusable though. Losing lane is one thing, getting 3 levels behind is tilt level and asking for a way to beat this is counter-productive. You shouldn't be putting yourself in this position to begin with - and blaming the jungler come on dude.
I'm not necessarily blaming the jungler for it. You asked for how, and I gave possibilities. I never said the jungler wasn't doing anything worth while. They could have been ganking bot and mid lane to put them ahead, helping get towers, drag, counter ganking. These are all perfectly acceptable reasons for why the jungler wasn't ganking top lane.
And it's very easy to get behind 3 levels early game just from dying once. If Trundle hits 6 just before you hit 6, and then all-ins and kills you, he'll hit 7-8 before you can even get back into lane while you're still 5 (depending on if you have TP). Then if you can't play passive enough to get farm or exp, he'll just kill you again if you slip up, gank other lanes because he's far ahead in his own lane, or just keep pushing top lane with no retribution other than requiring the jungler to almost perma-camp top lane instead of doing his other responsibilities as I've listed previously.
Trundle can be counterpicked as mentioned in other posts, but the OP was the one who was counterpicked or didn't understand Trundle when he picked (not exactly his fault either).
I'm not assigning any blame to anyone. Just trying to explain how things happen the way that they did while having limited info about the match.
Also, his jungler was Akali. She wouldn't have been very efficient at ganking until post 6. So that also would have added to the situation.
Play champions that can easily outduel him. He steals stats, particularly AD, armor, and magic resist. Naturally, champions that don't build any of these stats early on, or can keep their distance, are your wanted picks. Gnar can kite him and kill him very easily, deny farm if not. Vladimir can farm easily and waltz away if things get hairy. His harass is respectable. Pantheon will poke him out and kill him if he stays too long. There's a pattern of play that Trundle just cannot handle and these area few.
Pantheon is still good to play right?
