Excerpt: When I say someone is bad, I mean...

Probability dictates that for every good story from a player there are at least one of me (unfortunate few that get paired with bad players more than 50%). When I say bad I don't mean devoid of skill. I mean bad decision makers. I had a normal game just now. We had two free INHIBS to take with no turrets. One of the inhibs we had taken before. The game is late so death timers are high. My team decides to fight over drag rather than get either of the inhibs. We had many times we could have taken drag earlier in game BUT now they want to play catch up at 45 minutes. A few minutes later our Udyr has to be told to backdoor on the inhibs. He didn't know automatically to do it. That is bad. There is also a baron opportunity that "WE" past on in lieu of a team fight. I am fearless Leona, The Support Shot Caller. {drops head} But I can't save them all.

Yeah this is a rant of sorts but I actually wanted to talk about poor decision making when you have the game in the bag. There was a time in this game where we were up 20 kills to 10. Ha.... good times died quick cause some people have to get that KDA up. Good thing it was only normals.

51 minute game we were winning over 30 minutes of. Typ

You don't need to call them bad in order to speak about wrong decisions... :/

Suppose you think dragon is better to get than an inhib and no one can change your mind. Unless you can 1 v 5 to make up for it. You are a bad player aren't you?

No, I don't think that :/ Yes, but do you think that if you just say they are bad they are gonna change their minds?

I didn't call them bad. I am defining what objective bad is. I wasn't retelling an actual conversation I had.

I'll employ some tactical hypocrisy here to illustrate the counterpoint.

You're a bad leader.

If your teammates make poor decisions and you tell them "you are bad", you risk offending them. That could cause them to go on tilt or start an unproductive argument. Even if you are absolutely correct in your assessment of their decisions, don't expect them to appreciate your wisdom if you're going to deliver it as an insult.

Your calls could be solid gold but if you don't have your team's trust, then the quality of your calls doesn't matter. If you want your teammates to obey the shots you're calling, you must learn to educate and motivate in a way that is meaningful for them. That is no small task, I admit, because your team will vary from game to game. Nonetheless, you will not achieve better outcomes by trying to explain what you really mean by saying "you are bad." You'll only get better results when you learn how to motivate your teammates to play better without ever having to tell them they were playing poorly in the first place.

Interesting post. I don't know what "tactical hypocrisy" is. My point was that I'm not sure I am suppose to be the shot caller.Usually support doesn't call. The only reason I do is because I consider myself a strategist. And my age gives me perspective that every role is important. I have little ego when playing.

Do you listen to supports? think on it.

Actually, as a support main, I think I'm in a great position to call shots. Vision is one of my primary responsibilities so I am already paying close attention to the map. I also don't have to worry about CS'ing, which clears up some of my attention to focus on objective timers, death timers, etc. In general, I think that support and jungle have an advantage over laners when it comes to shot calling.

All your points are valid. And I agree with them. Who else do you want to try to reason with? 1 down, 29,999,998 to go.
