I want YOU to talk about Mordekaiser. Kit ideas, Thematics, fun stuff :)

(Now I know this is like my one millionth thread this week and I promised that my last rant was going to be the final one. Guess what; I lied! Huehuehuehue. Seriously though, I feel like ending this whole thing on a more positive/constructive Note may be more beneficial for the future and won't leave such a bad taste in my mouth after the Morde rework goes live in 5.16)

We've all known Morde ever since we started playing League; He may not be as popular but we all know the Brazil memes and everything else associated with League's very own Metalhead. Be it the good, the bad or the ugly, we all got some experiences with the big guy and I thought talking about them as well as sharing ideas on the Champion may be the best way to relieve all the pent up frustration over the last few weeks, resulting in something far more pleasant than simply giving in to our hate and depression. I'm going to take the first step and tell you everything I know, expect and hopefully will get eventually about the Master of Metal. Starting with Thematics, Suggested Kit changes and my own experience with olde Morde. Let's get started!

Thematics!! This may sound stupid but what made me pick up Morde were his themes and not his kit, which I coincidentally enjoyed far more than I expected. The whole Overlord persona he's got going and the fact he uses Metal as a Weapon is pretty Brutal (Insert Nathan Explosion meme here). He is THE personification of Metal; He's this hulking suit of armor crushing the opposition and conquering/torturing not only one's body, no, he even inflicts anguish upon your very soul! His Aura of chill, desolation and overall despair seems to cling to him like a mantle fit for the Murder Emperor. Heck, even his voiceover implies he's the one in charge and not the summoner. He's the one in command, he's the conqueror of souls and he knows and enjoys the fact the people of Valoran tremble at the thought of him coming for them. Now, the whole thing about him is not only that he enjoys inflicting pain onto others but also gets a kick out of his own pain and suffering, that's pretty fucked up! He's a soul trapped in a prison of metal and he'll make sure his enemies will suffer more than he'll ever will, their life fading and his prolonged by the sickness that sustains him.

This is how he should feel like in game but sadly falls a bit short.

Malicious metal's malevolent Mordekaiser kit of Metal and Misery. (WARNING! Long and extensive post ahead, you've been warned. Also, if you disagree with ANY point i make please give me your opinion since this is the purpose of this thread after all; Talking about Morde and get to know every individual player's own version of what Morde is to them)

Passive: Iron Man! Pretty much the same as on the rework and current Morde. How could we ever change this iconic ability? Mordekaiser IS Iron man (Queue the Music!) and therefore just needs to keep his passive. There's no Morde without Iron man.

-Mordekaiser shields himself for the damage he deals with his shield strength capping at 25% of his Maximum health. -Shield decay stops at 25% strength once he reaches level 11 -Decay upped to 2 % of his base health

=> This should reward Mordekaiser to build more tanky as well as giving him ways to already start fighting in the mid game with a partially filled shield. => Also Note that there is no fixed shield conversion as it's way to hard to balance it according to his individual skills, therefore I suggest making his abilities all convert the damage dealt according to the amount displayed further down the line.

Q: Hammerfall/Iced earth This one's heavily reworked and now serves as a means to push him more into the direction of lumbering Juggernaut fighting on his own terms and conquering the enemy territory.

Active: Mordekaiser slams his Mace down, dealing 75/110/155/195/250 + 0.4 Ap magic damage after a 0.5 second delay, the damage resonating out in a circle and marking it as ICED EARTH, a state similar to Trundle's Frozen Domain. The area will be marked as his own, dealing , mild AoE damage over the course of 6/7/8/9/10 seconds in the entire circle and enhancing his other abilities but I'll get to them later in this post.

Cost= 35/45/55/65/75 initial cost and 5/10/15/20/25 each second but Morde can activate the ability a second time to cleanse the area and put his ability on cooldown. (10/8/7/6/5 second CD) The resonating damage will be 10/15/20/25/30 damage per second scaling with 0.06 ap per tick.

This will further enforce his position as a Conqueror, claiming the very soul you thought were yours for his own and enhancing his power.

Shield conversion=> 5% versus minions and 20% against champions

W: Creeping Death Back to the roots! Mordekaiser targets an ally or himself, shrouding the targets in a protective Metal storm that deals AoE damage and increases their defensive stats by 5/10/15/20/25 % while damaging enemies for 20/40/50/60/70 + 0.2 Ap per second. This ability will be a toggle effect with ramping up health costs so Morde can effectively choose to either rely on his shield generation keeping him alive during teamfights, effectively shielding him from getting damaged too heavily but effectively killing himself in the process if he overestimates the shield strength and the damage the ability deals to himself.

This ability gives incentive to building resistances as well as health to negate the flat, ramping up health cost and gives good Morde players the option to either trust their shield to keep them alive in teamfights while Creeping death serves as a great way to sustain the shield by wading through the frontline but in exchange for his precious HP.

ICED EARTH EFFECT: Mordekaiser's health costs ramp up slower and the shield generation is increased.

Shield conversion=> 10% Minions, 25% champions/ Iced earth= 15% minions 35% champions

E: Siphon of Destruction The new ability Icons made me think this spell definitely should feel like Morde's draining the life out of his enemies and make it feel like a real Siphon. So here we are; This is the new and improved Siphon of Destruction!

-30/55/70/90/100+0.2 Ap damage per 0.5 seconds for the next 2 seconds. -0.5 second delay to get rid of its lane bully potential -Mordekaiser can freely move while Siphon of Destruction's active but he moves slower while facing enemy champions. (Think something the likes of a Culling) -8/7/6/5/4 second cooldown -35/45/55/65/75 health cost

ICED EARTH EFFECT: Mordekaiser literally sucks the life out of the enemies in his path, healing himself for 1% of his maximum health per minion hit and 3% per champion hit to a maximum of 4% on a single minion and 12% on a champ The heal scaling with his max hp makes it even strong when not building any AP opening him up for tanky builds.

I wanted to preserve his identity as a minion lawn mower, pushing waves like a motherfucker. It also gives him some consitent damage with all the newer DOT's, making liandries a great choice and giving him the feel of a conqueror of metal; smiting your minions and petty allies as he moves forward. the range should be decreased though to avoid getting caught too easily in his vortex of punishment.

Shield conversion: 3/5/7/9/13 % against minions based on rank and 25% on enemy champions.

R: Children of the Grave I'd like to keep this one unchanged but add some more counterplay by decreasing its range and rewarding good ults and focus more and punishing the bad ones. 25/30/35 +0.04 per 100 ap, 130/110/90 second cooldown Shield conversion= 15% as well as his innate 100% spellvamp-> Having a higher sheild ratio would be overkill Ghost duration= 45/60/75

NEW: CALL OF THE GRAVE: For each passing second the Mark hovers above an enemy champion the ghost's duration gets reduced by 3/4/5 seconds per passing second making a last tick kill less rewarding and making correct focus fire even more important as the clone would only last 15/20/25 seconds.

MY Morde experience When my younger brother started League he tried to convince me to try it out. I loved Zed's design and took him into a bot game where I fed a Cho Gath bot 16/0 by the tenth minute. I hated being squishy but the pure tanks were not really my stick. I didn't bother playing any more until I was so bored that I decided picking it up once more, scrolling through the champions I found this one guy; Mordekaiser, the Mater of Metal. As Metal fan myself I instantly got attached to his aesthetics and themes and vowed to myself that I'll grind the 3150 Ip asap to get to play the big guy even though some of my friends claimed he sucked. But I didn't give in! he became the first champion I bought and from then on I mained the big guy, trying to find the best builds and even became known as the only guy who could make Morde work amongst my friends. Season three was the era of mid Morde where I enjoyed playing versus all the assassins like Zed, Talon, Akali and Katarina, having a blast as they all claimed morde to be OP when they couldn't delete me like the usual squishy mids.

The there came season 4 where poke and long range mages became popular, making me question my life and choice of mid laner as I was being cast into the depths of hell. Trying out tankier builds and more aggressive playstyles I decided to fetch my things and settle into top where I managed to peak with Morde. Trying to share my wisdom on Morde I even put out a guide on Mobafire, which was universally accepted and helped many of my acquaintances and friends to get into Morde, making me feel proud about my achievement.

Then there came season 5 where I managed to climb my way out of the hellhole that was silver 3 with Mordekaiser, reaching gold five just a month ago with my Brother maining Bard. Having netted us a 15 games winning streak with our mains.

I can honestly say that this game's not League of Legends to me but more like league Of Mordekaiser since he's my favorite character and always made me enjoy the game even when faced with hardships. I want to thank everyone who accompanied me on my journey, making my Mordekaiser experience the best gaming one I've ever had.

Thank you for everything, Malicious Motherfucking Metal /../,

If they want JuggerKaiser, I think they should make his W make him literally a juggernaut.

How about when you toggle it, everyone moves slower but so do you (just less slower). And as long as your shield is up you're immune to CC (or extremely resistant to it. I'm talking GIANT METAL MAN resistant. Who's gonna knock you around? NOBODY. (basically ANTI KNOCK cc). Boost the effective range, and literally FORCE enemies to be wary of you. You have powerful abilities, and nobody should stop you from using them. Downside? Your shield will decay at a faster rate.

This is good stuff here...

I think the big issue that Riot is facing and has faced all along is that they don't really have a solid idea of what Morde is outside his gameplay style of an immobile CC-less melee. I'm talking Lore right now, which defines a lot about a champion design. Right now, of all of his different loves, the one thing that is consistent is that he's a specter from the shadow isles that steals souls. Morde is himself a ghost, nothing about his big suit of metal armor actually confines him to being a big slow brute based on that information, but they say he should be. I personally do think Morde being the giant, immobile, tanky as heck but also extremely damaging master of metal is a better approach, but Riot should figure out what exactly he is for that to make sense.

I was brainstorming awhile back, and I thought it would be cool if they incorporated something like this: how about this passive on top of his iron man, for every x amount of missing health, mordekaiser gains y armor and y magic resist. Y increases based on how big his shield is. So basically, if he has like 10 health and a full shield he will be insanely hard to kill. Of course this would be hard to balance considering how strong his passive is already but since they were getting rid of the armor/mr from his w I thought it would be nice.

Also I like how you still incorporated band names into his abilities XD

See I had an idea, nobody really has seen it yet, I took a bit of a different approach than you, but still relatively the same, as I like his current iteration(not the rework) IDK if you saw yet or not, not trying to spam, but here it is: My Morde rework idea

And see here's the problem, Boards DOES have great ideas. But CertainlyT doesn't seem to be willing to stay out of his comfort zone to answer questions. It's like, "Hi I'm the guy who made Thresh and I'm reworking Mordekaiser, I'll answer questions for a day and never show my face again.". Again, great brainstorming ideas, fun stuff, but what's the point if the big guys don't consider?

I'm not a Morde main, sadly, and I've only recently picked him up in PvP because the long wait times to play as a fighter in Team Builder tested my patience and I figured I wouldn't be able to get an opportunity to play him in Blind Pick. So I don't know nearly as much about him as y'all, but the one thought I had for the rework that is going through in order to help, but might be too much, was a different condition on his W.

I was brainstorming and thought, well, he is the Master of Metal. So....like Magneto. I've seen Magneto make a metal shield before, and sometimes to block projectiles. Why not have a self-cast option for his W that acts like Braum's Unbreakable, or at least have the self-cast give the resistances, while an ally-cast gave damage and speed. Could be a terrible idea, but it was an idea nevertheless. That was all I could think of so far.
