Remember these guys? http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Evolution_of_Combat https://twitter.com/jagex_mark

Us either.

You guys were literally PRINTING MONEY with the game you had prior to this patch... Please listen to your community for once and give an option to toggle the old/new HUD. Don't piss off >75% of your loyal customer base because you are too proud to admit your mistakes.

I've been playing this game for 5 years and I am seriously contemplating never coming back after this patch and going to go play DotA 2 instead.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

P.S. Ironically I actually got in a teambuilder game with Scarizard last night and told him about the HUD... He jokingly said "oh I'm going to fix it after we win this game". He lost but hopefully he got the message

all these threads complaining about the hud, and so few of them actually say why they dont like it. so its likely most dont like it because its different, and that is not a reason to not have an upgraded hud.

I agree.

The only one I see that actually gave some reason was the reddit post one. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/rXAIu9W8-new-hud-the-problem-explained-perfectly-reddit-gold-post

I'd say most of the posts say what they don't like about the HUD... it is clunky and inefficient; they moved information around into spots where you can't easily view it while in combat (for example your team's health info is impossible to view when you're running around the map now, you have to pan your eyes off the screen and to the minimap instead of it being in peripheral)

But even past that, when the HUD has been the same for 5 years and you completely switch everything around overnight and don't give your players an option to choose not to use it, it's a problem.

It's like if I went onto someones WoW account and moved all their shit around on the UI and said "whoops, just get used to it bitch". Could you get used to it after months of playing? Maybe. Is it how you liked it and laid out in the most pleasing way for you? No. It was unneeded and no one asked for it.

If someone doesn't like the UI, why are you to tell them "oh well you'll just get used to it". It's our game, not yours. I didn't say for the people who think its good to delete the UI, just give an option to toggle from classic/new. I've been using it for several years, it worked great and it hampers my ability to play the game when I have to re-learn everything I've been doing forever for no reason.

actually changing things without giving them the choice is a perfectly normal thing, and this isnt the first time.

the old shop existed, took time to get used to and now its considerably better,

people hate because people resist change.

its not inefficient in information, in fact its more efficient in information, because it gives stats in the primary area that screen than the old one did, ie cdr, range.

there are places where the information is not as good, such as seeing the actual cdr timers on ally ultimate, its pretty small if you were looking to see exactly when their ultimate is coming up, but even then it gives more info than the old.

the main reason i believe people are angry with the hud, is that they continue to look in the top right for their quick information, and finding it there, which is something that could be addressed.

problem is, everyone is just bitching, and not giving feedback.

The new shop still sucks... People deal with it because Riot gave them no other option.

What's your point again?

The new shop isn't even good. I just tolerate it because I don't look at it often, can use search function and it doesn't actually hamper the way the entire game looks.

Hmm, speaking of the past http://www.berklee-blogs.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/407353-league-of-legends-windows-screenshot-attacking-and-destroying.jpg

Remember when the community got all huffy and whiny about this HUD being replaced? This whole situation feels oddly familiar...

Also good luck with DotA, the minute differences but overall similar gameplay will **** your mind so bad.

Oh god that. That's why I'm saying we need to adjust. When that got replaced, I saw people go afk because, "This new HUD is terrible." What's happening now? Exact same thing? What's the difference? I ain't seeing it.

That hud has information in pretty much the same place as it had before this new one put everything in the bottom, bottom right. It was largely cosmetics overhaul. This new one isn't cosmetics it fucks with how and where the information is displayed.

the one in this pick doesn't look very different from the previous one

Biff Manly1 votes

Well my point was more the fact that the same whiny assholes complained about changing from this as well. People just need to give it a chance, rather than just playing one match, getting screwed over by their muscle memory, and rage-quitting League.

I hated it when it was released too. After about 5 games I got used to it. I have played for 2 1/2 years. I think the reason why the community is so angry about it is because it's such a dramatic change compared to the old HUD. It isn't that bad. Once you figure out where all of the information is stored and have an open mind about it instead of hating it for no reason other than "It's not what I'm used to" everything will be fine.

More than 75% of the loyal customer base? Sure..

And I don't think it's just about fixing something broken. It's about building a foundation that can be improved upon. sure the old HUD may have worked fine, but does it support future improvements? Or changes to other interface/visual elements?

There's also the possibility the update was motivated by changes in interface design philosophies, or research regarding optimizing visual interfaces, or input from professional players. Does anyone know?

I'm hardly experienced or knowledgable enough to argue one way or another (and I'm guessing most of us are in a similar boat) I'm just saying there's a lot more to consider than "does it work?".

Feedback will be valuable later. People have to get used to the change first. See posts about new shop.

Riot just sent out the survey for new HUD, will come back to this post in a week when it is reverted/given an older option

Oh man, I remember when EoC was released...I don't think I've ever seen a single update cause a game to lose so many players, myself included.

I really hope that all other MMORPG and online games take cues from JaGex/Runescape on what not to do with releasing massive overhaul updates.

Still haven't touched that game since EoC and I had bunny ears too.

If they would just add the new features onto the old HUD with the old color scheme, it would be awesome. Plus make it where people can move the different blocks around.

Shroom Junkie1 votes

They should have a old/new HUD switch, but the new one isn't totally bad. Just gotta get used to it and everyone will be fine.
