@Riot Any chance of changing up Sona?

Let me start off by saying that I love Sona, she has been my go to support gal for over 4 years. I've stuck with her through every nerf/change she has gotten, be they deserved or not.

But as it stands I feel she is underwhelming in terms of utility a support is supposed to bring to the table. Her damamge(IMO) is fine the way it is, it indeed deserved the nerf. However with her damage being scaled back the rest of her kit kind of suffers because of said change. I feel that anything Sona does, other supports can do better and more effective. While I do admit that her teamfight is amazing simply because of her ult, it still doesn't make up for the flaws she has.

We could bring up the point that she does have alot of utility in the form of movement speed steroid and a heal. But they just feel watered down compared to other supports that fill those roles better. In other words, she is a jack of all trades master of none. She doesn't exactly feel unique in terms of her concept as opposed to old Sona. I can't exactly put my finger on it but she just doesn't feel like Sona anymore.

I know this pretty late bringing up the current state of Sona, but with DJ Sona on its way to league I just though that maybe we have a chance of seeing a better more in depth future for the Maven of Strings.

Meanwhile Lee Sin can be the jack of all trades without feeling watered down and look how everyone complains about him being OP - w-

idk Jacks cant exist in league apparently.. you either end up a Lee or a Sona

We must be playing different Sonas. I carry games with her regularly. She feels immensely impactful, even when her ult is down. and godlike when it's up. If you want a super godlike 24/7 peeler, indeed that's not her thing. Pick a different champ if that's what you want. (though heal/shield into damage debuff frequently gets the job done anyway. and there's always ult when it's up. That slow is pretty strong too.) But the heal/shields, team mobility, and alll that damage, feels great to me.

First I want to clear a few misconceptions:

Her damamge(IMO) is fine the way it is, it indeed deserved the nerf.

Sona's damage output is the lowest amongst the support class, with exception to MAYBE Braum. She's tied for the lowest base on a damage spell at 40 with: Leona's Q, Taric's W and E

I know this pretty late bringing up the current state of Sona,

Don't worry, you aren't late to the party. It's been going strong on the front page of the forums for 8 months now. However, Fearless stopped responding about 4 months ago. In general, our voices are completely unheard by Riot.

In other words, she is a jack of all trades master of none.

Whilst this was true of pre-nerf Sona, not so much of her current version. She does only 1 thing and that's spam Q. Even that too is weaker than pre-nerf as it's base was lowered by 20%, it's cooldown was lengthened and the bubble the aura was replaced with is 650 units smaller and gives equal/less burst and severely lower sustained damage. I'd right now call her a "Failure-of-All-Trades."

I love Sona as much as anyone and she was not only my go-to support, but my main throughout season 3 when I started, until she died this past July 30th. I agree this feels nothing like how she was/should be and the kit is far more toxic and less "balanceable" than her original self. This rework has been the greatest failure amongst all reworks, but Riot refuses to admit it and Fearless especially is too arrogant to believe he's not omnipotent.

She doesn't use auras anymore, her whole kit is gated into spamming abilities, whereas her previous required real decision-making. Her base stats are weaker: AD was secretly nerfed, HP was nerfed and MS was nerfed. Her old cooldowns were all 7 seconds; there are 7 letters in the musical alphabet, but her current cooldowns are not just longer, but being differed makes her passive difficult to use, she has less freedom to decide which Power Chord to use and often will be trapped into using Staccato more often than not, due to Hymn being the lowest cooldown. The graphical updates to her models were very poorly done, with incorrect patterns like on her base's dress, completely wrong coloring like on Silent Night's entire model, poorly drawn/colored hair like on Silent/Arcade and a plastic child's-toy-like design to the Etwahl on every skin; I can't help, but think the skins team intentionally downgraded all of her skins to make DJ look better in comparison.
