When you win your lane but your teammates feed your lane opponent

I initially wrote this in reply to what I didn't realize was a meme thread (Derpy me, I know), so I'm reposting it here because I think it merits some discussion.

The situation described in the topic is rarely ever a one lane screwed up situation.

  1. Did you have a ward and did it spot your opponent's route?

  2. Did your teammate have a ward and did it spot your opponent's route?

  3. How long was your opponent out of lane?

  4. What did you do while your opponent was gone? Did you take a tower? Did you also roam?

I see it all the time, top lane being the most frequent offender. Top laner manages a few kills early and his opponent opts to roam. 5 minutes later the opponent has successfully ganked mid and bot, and secured dragon and one tower. Meanwhile the top laner is still farming away without having even taken first tier tower yet, all the while complaining about the feeders on his team, when in reality his team is basically playing a 4v5.

I don't mean to pick on top laners though. Some mid laners and ADCs are often guilty of this too, especially Vayne players.

This isn't to say that you always have to group, even though that's my preferred style personally. But if your opponent is with his team and you're not, you better have some heavy pressure in your lane. Otherwise you're basically a glorified minion.

When I'm top I usually look to clutch my tele for a play, if I shove correctly after forcing a back and I'm up on cs, I'd rather let the other guy get 7-10 farm then miss out on a play for drag, herald. or Tower first blood.

but if I see my lane opponent roaming mid, I'll generally just ping MIA/caution and try to take tower first blood because of the global gold bonus it offers

Yes, that's one of two potentially good responses, the other being to follow and nullify the gank or perhaps turn it around. However, what happens quite frequently is you'll see the top laner -maybe- shove the wave, but then immediately back. Sometimes this is okay, but most of the time this is giving your opponent something for free. He'll end up losing maybe a few minions while exerting heavy pressure on your team, and it'll be even worse if a successful gank results in a lost objective.

For me most of the time if my laner leaves it is because they have STUPID high wave clear and I dont until mid to late game. I work on clearing the wave and ping MIA.

By the time I have cleared wave (and it takes time because Im CSing the wave not blinding just killing it) and by then they have ganked one of the other lanes and my team didnt take care.

I hate it but I think I have to just spent time to learn the OP champs that Riot wants to force you to play even tho I hate the champs for many reasons one being that they are flat out cheese and those who play them have no skill in real play. The champ has a MASSIVE handy cap..... GG Riot design

I don't think this has anything to do with OP champs or not. And nothing is really OP below Diamond anyway. But more to the point, there are only a handful of champs that lack the ability to wave clear an empty lane, especially post 6 when lanes are more likely to roam.

No no no, you don't just ping mia. What you do is you ping danger over the head of whoever they're going, so that in the event that they aren't paying attention to the minimap and don't see they're in danger, they'll see a big red exclamation mark on their battlefield telling them that something bad is coming for them. You'd be surprised at how well this works.

That's a great suggestion! Sometimes you just don't know though, particularly if they've just died or recalled and then walked from base to another lane.
