If you don't want to be treated like a child, don't act like one.

"I got banned because (player) did (Something I didn't like) ."

This is a recurring theme among players who end up penalized or even permanently banned. Their actions are the result of someone else's actions, and therefore they should not be penalized for it. We see it over and over again. Someone said something, did something, didn't do something, didn't say something and that just set them off.

These players are lacking in impulse control. Impulse control is being able to control one's actions and not just saying or doing everything that pops into one's head. It is a life skill that most people learn at a very young age.

If you are one of these players, some of the resources below may be valuable for you. Yes, I know they're geared towards children, but the concepts are still solid.

Sometime between the third and fourth birthdays, many kids will begin developing impulse control skills to help them control responses and behaviors. The Illinois Early Learning Project advises that kids between the ages of 3 and 5 are old enough to learn impulse control. You might compare learning impulse control to building muscles, though. Just as it takes time to make muscles stronger, it takes time for children to learn how to control emotions and actions.

Some tips on developing Impulse Control.

Children develop controlled impulses as part of their overall development. The very young child does not have these skills. In fact, there are those of us who have difficulty refraining from a second cookie as adults. Impulse control requires will power, delayed gratification, and self-control. For the child who struggles with development, sensory processing, attention, physical limitations, cognitive delays, or social impairments, the ability to control ones impulses is very difficult. These individuals are cognitively and automatically focused on the underlying needs. When other needs such as sensory or balance are the primary focus, it can be quite difficult to refrain from impulses.

I find it pretty bothersome you can get penalized for calling someone a loser %%%%%% after they just shittalked my adc into leaving the ranked game, a game we were winning by a huge lead mind you...

Get off the highroad, because I promise you you've had a moment where you flip your lid in a game. Whether or not you get banned for it, when you're in the moment it doesn't matter what the consequences are. Various circumstance definitely overpower senses and logic, and scratching your head wondering why people think they shouldn't get banned (even if they are in the wrong) is just silly.

Why shouldn't someone be angry over someone trolling in a ranked game? this isn't a fun game like say, Lethal League, where you don't have to commit much time to a match if you don't want to. In this game, you forfeit so much progress in the ranked system and time in game if you don't win, and when someone intentionally tries to ruin your game, what else did you expect them to do in the heat of the moment? Ignore it? Move on? The punishment system for going afk just frustrates people even more cause now they can't leave, and the game is already a lost cause.

Same thing with flamers in chat. If they're saying something that's not true, e.g. "GG retarded bot" you immediately want to refute it because it's degrading.

In the big picture, sure, it makes sense to judge people in a sense of "lol just report at end of game bruh its so easy just have self control" but it's really not that easy when you're actually in the game, and I'd like you to step off the highroad for just a second to really consider someone else with extremely different circumstances both in game and IRL.

and then to pour salt on the wound if you get banned for doing something (or saying something) of course someone is going to try and say that "I did 'blank' because this player did 'blank'

so maybe claiming people who lose control for even just one game are "children" isn't the most insightful thing to say. It's probably the most infuriating thing I've ever heard, and I've never even been banned or chat restricted.

You, yourself, have not mastered impulse control.

You didn't even actually give help.

You called people "children" then misread some links.

Are you implying that because someone "Doesn't have impulse control" in the game ( already a bad assumption ) that they don't irl? Breathe...

Sadly Ive just reached the point where i mute all as soon as i get into the game now. I feel like my teammates rarely have anything uselful or positive to say and the only time i ever see anyone talk is to trash talk/bash someone.

I /mute all off the bat and mute ping spammers and my games have been much more enjoyable and i am raging less(this part not sure its because i mute all or that the games are so coin flip now that i no longer care).

impulse control doesn't exist on the internet/video games, silly.

I've never popped my cap off at anyone because I just don't type ANYTHING REMOTELY NEGATIVE into the chat

unless it's ironic like

"Nasus and Nami are the two furry Ns which is why they're fucking each other in the ass"

is pointing out that someone is toxic and trolling being toxic?
