Lux E Rework/Change Idea

had a random idea for a Lux E change that I think would be interesting.

currently her E is as follows:

COST: 70/85/100/115/130 Mana COOLDOWN: 10

DAMAGE: 60/105/150/195/240 (+60% AP)

The active can be set up to detonate upon landing by pressing E again mid flight/cast. It can also just stay upon landing for up to 5 seconds granting both sight and slowing enemies.

Lux has two problems with her E. one for Lux players themselves AND for people to play against (particularly those in low elo).

The problem for Lux players is her wave clear is rather lack luster. She spends a huge chunk of mana and cannot instantly clear backline minions without ludens. but rushing Luden's is risky as you will go oom if you are not landing your E's on the enemy. not to mention the enemy if they are smart can choose to simply not fight you and just push you in knowing you will go oom very quickly farming under tower. Sure her E lets her proc her passive, but the time it takes to auto all the creeps is too long and too risky most of the time as you are putting yourself in dangers way.

The problem for people playing against Lux (again more aimed at lower elo players) is that her E in particular is rather large for a skill shot, and while it comes out slow can be hard to consistently dodge so it results in mostly free poke. This is currently balanced by its VERY low base damage early and mediocre scaling combined with a MASSIVE mana cost. so you have to proc your passive most of the time to make using this spell even worth it. But none the less its a fairly easy skill shot to land which means a lot of free poke in lane.

Neither of these feel good. for the lux or for the enemy. sure it feels nice to poke the enemy for free, but that doesn't mean much if I can't push or wave clear like my team needs me too. So here is my idea for a suggested solution to both:

COST: 70/85/100/115/130 Mana (stays the same) COOLDOWN: 10 (stays the same)

DAMAGE(if detonated instantly): 60/90/120/150/180 (+50% AP) DAMAGE RAMP UP(each second up to 2 seconds): 10/20/30/40/50 (+10%) TOTAL POTENTIAL DAMAGE (if left on ground for 2 seconds: 80/130/180/230/280 (+70% AP)

So the idea here is that if you just throw out an E for poke and don't let it settle it will do less damage at later ranks than it does on live. at level 1 gotta keep it the same since it already has less base damage than its mana cost (yikes). But beyond that its a pretty sizeable nerf to just throwing out E's on the willy nilly for poke. 50 damage at max rank and 10% less ap at all ranks is quite noticeable.

But if Lux throws it on the ground to wave clear but doesn't instantly detonate she can now deal far more damage than on live and actually wave clear like a real mage should. Right now she is super lackluster for a mage especially an artillery mage.

But wouldn't this just gut Lux who is already weak? That's where I don't think it would. because I thought about it and thought if you make the ramp up only over 2 seconds instead of the full 5 duration of the E then you can ramp it up in the duration of a binding or even a little after the binding ends since E the does have a decent slow to it. (25-45% scaling with rank). So what this does is hurt Lux's who only throw out E's and can't land their bindings, but rewards the Lux's who can land their bindings. It gives Lux more damage and now her E is a serious threat when left on the ground in team fights. its a true zone of control. currently some tanks and other bruisers will just walk through it and eat it knowing it does so little of damage, but now since it ramps up you will want to get out of it as soon as possible.

What about her full combo? Won't she loser her ability to one shot? Not quite. Lux's insta delete happens anywhere from 1-2 seconds. If Lux opts to just throw Q > E > R and detonate E after R which is very common, then the damage is the same on live. If she waits for a second after the ult to detonate E then she gets more damage on her full combo. In order to guarantee it though the Lux would have to Q > E > R expecting the Q to land or end up looking silly.

So in all I think it would be a really good change that would give Lux more skill expression rather than just randomly spam E in lane to chunk someone to shit once you get some ap and not being able to push or wave clear either.

Thoughts?

i do think this is very well written... however i disagree. this would hurt her ability to trade (and support) when all you really need to do to clear minions is auto the the melee's once after you E. and eventuality they are all going to die to E anyways.

most of the time i play Lux i do play her support. but i disagree with this idea, we don't need to turn her E into Gragas barrel
