Practice Mode is not quite optimized for "endless last hitting" like advertized.

So as I finished up my exams and now have the summer to myself to try hard again I decided I'm going to get good. Well that means starting at fundamentals right? so I go into shiny new practice tool, lock XP level, turn off damage to towers and go bot lane to practice. over time I noticed myself missing more and more and thought I was just off. Then I noticed I couldn't last hit under tower anymore with the normal fundamentals. (two hits for melee, hit once for ranged > let tower hit > hit again after). Then I did some research on the LOL wiki. Basically every 90 seconds minions get stronger. Whether or not this means health I'm not sure, but assuming I was able to last hit under tower at the start of the game and could no longer do so later makes me believe so.

It would be a great change to lock MINION strength as well for practice tool so you can just stay bot and keep practicing without having to reset the game every 10 minutes or so. re teleport, spawn minions, etc. This way you could truly endlessly last hit.

Just a suggestion!

I'm pretty sure you can restart the game, although tedious that's what you can do :O And I mean restart it within the practice tool, not quit out and go back in.

This is what I do. You can also fast forward by 30 second intervals to speed things up a bit more, but be careful with this since it really messes with minions

Yea that is pretty annoying. Pro-Tip though, if you don't want to wait till 1:30 till minions spawn, click the disable minions button and then click it again for them to insta-spawn.

This is a great idea! The levels of the minions, towers, jungle monsters, & everything else that scales up over time should be locked when the player's level is locked.

Why would you want to practice under minion conditions that don't exist in the real game?

They do exist in the real game. He's trying to replicate the first 5 minutes of the game or so before you have any real items, so he gets maximum amount of cs before his first buy.

Minions increase in strength multiple times within the first 5 minutes.

Not by enough that you will miss last hits. I have had almost eternal laning phases (farmed up to like 2.5k since neither team could really recall) and could still consistently get casters in auto-tower-auto and melees in tower-tower-auto. This is in part because each time you level up you still gain AD and such (Lucian gains about 4 or so with Natural Talent), but when you don't gain that and spend 10 minutes farming while the minions keep constantly gaining health there is a bit of an issue.

Minions also interact with minions. There's more to setting up minions for the tower than just attacking caster minions once and letting melee minions be.

that would be nice, but for now you can make a custom game

macromite60 votes

how- how does this help?

abbbez3 votes

since if you want to learn how to last hit you want it to be realistic??

rtbf22561824112 votes

Don't really see how practicing with tools makes it less realistic.

"that would be nice, but for now you can make a custom game" is not a bad comment he gave you and alternative that works at the moment. Since you wouldn't really want to practice last hitting without mana management etc. Which a normal custom game still manage to give.

rtbf2256182413 votes

I think the whole point of mana is to limit your "spamming" to get easy last hits with abilities.

You can still practice last hitting with abilities, just without limiting yourself from practicing said last hitting.

TBH, their will never be a situation where you level will be locked... plus there is an easy reset game button, although inconvenient for you purposes, still works.

there is a reset game button in Practice Mode

Sort of - but be careful -

watch this in full -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MIKWbtp8zE

I will now explain - when we learn, think of the RPG. if we battle something hard we collapse. we are not strong enough. if we battle something too weak, progress is slow. but - if we stay within a level or two of our current level, progress is at a healthy pace.

in this way We should look to the fundamentals - wherein those are what are just below our current level - for when we need to practice easy - and we also should look to the challenges - AKA what is right above our level - for when we are prepared to learn with a faster, but tougher, pace.

But there is one thing more - this is the Jigan. the ally who is so strong compared to us, that they just impress us with their might. They are like an entirely new dimension, when we practice with them we open ourselves to the opportunity to skip up in levels faster than we ever could alone.

And now imagine how that ally could also be an adversary - outside the RPG, failure is not death. so if we balance steady growth with the occasional challenge we cannot surpass - this is just as powerful in lack of a supporting ally who is more prominent than our current level.

So to summarize - should you go back to the basics? yes, but don't overdo that. return to ranked regularly too, to apply the basics in a challenging, volatile environment. The basics when overdone, will trap you to sluggish growth.

Just make it an option, what if you wanted practice last hitting as a mage who doesn't build AD, and thus in a real game, wouldn't be able to use the last hitting under tower formula?

You'd probably turn XP on though.

I noticed this too! It would be great to be able to lock minion strength, tower attributes, and anything else that changes just with game time.

Penta Penguin1 votes

how fucking lazy must you be. bring teleport, race to 1300 gold or whatever your first back is, reset game and repeat, make it a speed run to your first item...

jesus

La Belle Sauvage1 votes

Practice last hitting for first 5 minutes. Reset, repeat.

Nalisai1 votes

don't lock your level unless you want to continually reset the game as everyone is saying. however, i've noticed that so long as you don't load bots and don't back for items, the level equivalents stay the same for you and the minions as time progresses - so just don't lock your level for endless last hitting.

Defiantly hoping to see practice tool continue to be expanded on more, being able to have more control. Such as what op suggested and personally I would like if there was a way to control or decide where champions lane. Even if it's only for the beginning of the game or being able to only control what lanes your allies go, that's all I need. I like to simulate a actual 5v5 game when practicing a new champ, but can't do that with a top or mid lane champion, since there's always a ally in my lane that messes with my cs, and then also going against two enemies, which also can be a annoyance, of course this is a suggestion for when or if they add the ability for more bots in practice tool.

Many of the replies that are critical of this post suggest that the person replying has never actually used the practice tool. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

You also can't lock enemy xp level which is kind of annoying.
