High skill champions and Winrate
High skill mechanical champions aren’t necessary reflected as such by their winrates.
Who are the high skilled champions? I’m sure there are more but some examples are Vayne, Yasuo, Riven, Thresh, Ryze, Azir, Lee Sin, Nidalee, and Gangplank.
High skilled champions should naturally have a lower winrate because the people that play these champions are not typically LoL gods but one that can exceptionally handle their champion will be rewarded extremely well.
Not everyone who plays a specific champion will be good at that champion no matter how many games you’ve played on them. (My Vladimir for example) This goes for these so called high skill cap champions.
Now we go to the Winrates and tier rank (according to Op.gg) of all the champions I mentioned above. Vayne (52.5%, tier 1), Yasuo (48.7%, tier 2), Riven (53.2%, tier 1), Thresh (51.1 %, tier 1), Ryze (45.9%, tier 5), Azir (47.3%, tier 5), Lee Sin (48.8%, tier 1), Nidalee (50.5%, tier 2), Gangplank (50.9%, tier 2). Despite low win rates pro play just lol’s at Ryze and Azir being tier 5.
Most of the champions were at least tier 2 or higher with damn near a 50% WR if not higher. The closer these so called high skill champions are to that 50% marker it just shows that they are overpowered because these champions all generally have a higher pick rate than the average champion and not every player is good enough on these champions to be able to pull off a victory.
So why are they winning? Simply because they overpowered. It doesn’t help that some of these champions have a mechanic that are just unnecessary to make them easier for a low skilled player such as Ryze passive shield when he throws his 3 spells, Yasuo passive shield and his R dodging towers thing, Vayne being invisible for longer, etc.
It’s time for Riot to balance these high skilled champions off of their potential from a good player.
If you didn’t read all of that at least read this. Nerf Vayne.
