The Rune Problem
Runes are not balanced in League of Legends. “Which ones?” you might ask. Well the answer is all of them.
Champions get balanced off of Runes, if a rune becomes too OP (Hi Dark Harvest) every champion in the game will run it, and quite simply some champions in the game use runes better than other champions do such as Aftershock Lissandra and Kleptomancy Ezreal may be better off with those runes than any other champion with any other rune until that rune gets nerfed on every other champion as well or the champion just gets a straight up nerf because of a rune.
Balancing the runes for every champion is an impossible task and then balancing the champion because of a rune is pathetic and maybe the rune just shouldn’t be there. SO FAR IVE ONLY BEEN TALKING ABOUT KEYSTONES NOT EVEN THE SECONDARY RUNES, which make it infinitely times as hard.
I think a major fix to what is a huge problem in League would be to just remove the runes all together. They are just either huge unnecessary buffs for many champs or they are just mini upgrades to a champion. The biggest problem with runes is just simply that some champs use them better than others. If Riot decided to remove the rune system all together, balancing champions would be much much easier because they can solely focus on the champion itself other than how this champion works with said runes.
With that being said, simply stat buffs for each champion still should be a thing aka masteries. I think the old mastery pages should come back because that would just provide small stats that are very useful not groundbreaking passive runes that change a champions dynamic entirely.
