Something I've noticed about the current tank items: (HELPFUL FOR NEWBIES)

item 3143 item 3083 - a ton of HP, an AoE slow and decent sustain to boot. Solid all-around. ** Great effective health vs. objectives.**

item 3075 item 3068 - GREAT anti-AD. You deal a ton of magic damage by existing near a marksman or melee carry. Cheap to build. Good effective health vs. objectives but lacking vs. magic damage; your strength with these items is in killing things before they kill you.

item 3083 item 3065 - So much health and even more sustain. With these, you stop caring about things like "poke" and "non-lethal damage". Good effective health vs. objectives; however you'll need to get some armor aside from this in order to make your health more effective.

item 3143 item 3056 - Really easy to build into. ** Warden's Mail and Kindlegem work well together vs. AS, and raptor's cloak plus more armor and Giant's Belt is good against AD casters. It also gives you good initiation under enemy towers. ** Good effective health vs. objectives.

item 3143 item 3102 - Anti-gimmicks. Saves you from most ganks while roaming. Banshee's shield can be a second life against pulls from Thresh or Blitzcrank, even for tanks. ** Decent effective health vs. objectives.**

item 3065 item 3056 -** Really strong anti-poke and anti-AP. ** 300% total base health regen plus Visage's passive will give anyone a ton of sustain, regardless of their self-healing abilities, unless their name is Riven. Also provides 20% CDR and a decent amount of health and total resistances. ** Sub-par effective health vs. objectives but **your health regen should make tanking objectives sting a lot less, and Ohmwrecker's active makes sieging turrets much easier than it otherwise would be.

item 3190 item 3026 - **Wombo - B - Gone. ** The aura persists as you're reviving with GA and the shield complements GA's passive; you can die to a dive then pop the shield and whatever other forms of sustain you have when you get back up. The 10% CDR and bonus teamwide regen are nice perks. Sub-par effective health vs. objectives, although if your GA is up your total health shouldn't matter as much.

Tank items are bad by themselves after the nerfs, obviously, but still really good in certain pairs. GA and Banshee's are exceptions to this, but if you're playing as someone that fully expecting to take hits for your team certain combinations of (what's left of) tank items are more effective than anything else.

I didn't put items like item 3110 into a combination like the above because I don't think they're tank items as much as I think that they're mana items for those who will want to build into tank items later on. Considering mana's value right now I'd say that both mana and CDR are considered as offensive stats on anyone but supports.

TL;DR: PROTip: your first two tank items should be one of these combos! Unless your name is Riven. Don't ever build tank Riven.
