Vel'Koz has been overtuned for more patches than I can count now

He was weak and got overbuffed. Few people seem aware of it even though he's had the highest mid winrate for many patches now. His level 6 burst is LB level from range. He scales well and even destroys tanks. His waveclear is good. His CC is good.

His only weakness is mobility and it's not even that big of a deal because of how easy it is to play from far back if you need to and are worried about the jungler. He's not hard to play and way too rewarding. I've seen a Ziggs get legit 1 shot under turret from 90% HP purely by his level 11 ult. and the Vel'Koz was only a kill and 20 cs ahead.

He's not op. He's been on the strong side I will admit. His winrate makes him look op but his playrate isn't there yet. I suggest waiting until his play rate catches up and if his winrate is still as high as it currently is, then nerf him. If riot does plan to nerf him, just take away 5% AP scaling from his passive true damage. Currently it's 50% which is about the minimum AP scaling for an ability and he has it as a passive. I believe that's what's making him strong.

His playrate isn't that low and this is for MANY patches. I'd take your point more seriously if he had a 2% playrate but he's at 5% which is pretty typical for many champions.

It's almost 5% and I would still consider it low. By your logic, Ahri would be more deserving of a nerf since her 12% playrate still buys her a winrate of just 2% less than Vel'Koz. Just be patient. I believe that if his play rate increases, he'll be like ezreal, super high playrate but <50% winrate.

Top 20 champions have ~10% pick rate. 5% pick rate is pretty significant.

Are you kidding? 2% is HUGE if the sample size is valid. Vel'Koz is at 54%+ winrate in Platinum and higher. 55%+ winrate is nearly always broken and 53% is usually something to look at carefully. 57%+ is hotfix/ranked disabled territory like WW was for a bit and then Skarner.

Idk if Vel'Koz is actually broken and it might just be ZIggs is a complete trash champion which no one really plays the higher you go up because of the first point (complete garbage with no kill pressure in lane and an entirely dodgeable kit that doesn't even do that much damage late game). The only good thing about Ziggs is that he lets himself get carried easily by grouping in teamfights and taking turrets fast etc.

Sorry I'm not trying to necro but if you check on champion.gg now, you can see that a small increase in Vel'Koz's playrate caused his winrate to decrease. This is what I was expecting when I suggested to wait. Assuming his play rate rises, his winrate should decrease accrdingly. Good thing he wasn't nerfed prematurely right?
