Mark my words, we're going to get some lame summoner icon or something instead of a refund that most of us actually want.

EDIT: It's sad how self-seekers who have spent 0 ip and rp on runes are downvoting this post because they only think about themselves.

I mean, even if I don't get refunded, I got my Ips worth out of my runes/pages lol. I mean shit what else what I of done with my IP anyway.

Their was a post on Reddit awhile back (last summer I believe) when this thought process started to form. They we're gonna give players special Hextech Chest/Keys that only gave skins based on the amount of IP they spent. Once you hit like 150k you got a special edition Voli skin and icon that would never be released again, plus all the previous tier rewards. Whether they go this route or not is unknown but they will find a way to compensate us.

So you would rather get a load of IP (as if you've been playing since that long, probably you have all the champs you were playing anyways...) than - for example - a bunch of skins? I can't say I get it...

If you have problems with the planned new runes/masteries system, well, you have the right. Though I think that this is kind of the only really good thing what Riot came up with recently (and I have worries that at the end they will ruin this one too with "good ideas" tbh...). But in its current state it is a very good idea.

These downvotes show that I have no right to have a problem with it. To have a problem with my RP and IP not getting refunded (to be exact).

I have only played for a couple of seasons and I don't own every champion. By 'older players' I meant people who have played before the new system.

The only thing what I can say about this that I read a couple of forum discussions on the topic with rioters, and they kind of said that they got it that they have to find some proper compensation and they got it that a pure IP/RP refund won't solve all problems and complains, so they are working on the issue and they will let us know for further discussion when they will come up with something as the preseason approaches. So, at the moment we can only wait and hope they won't mess it up. I think just relax till then ;-)

Btw, if you are interested in my opinion: The best would be to merge IP and RP spent in some common "currency" and make you able to spend it on mystery skin chests (what give you a random skin for a champ you own already, including legacy (!) and legendary skins too) and to come up with a similar chest temporary with random champs in them. And everybody could decide how many new champs and/or skins they want. But to give simple hextech chests isn't a good idea as a single champ shard doesn't worth much and tbh I don't want two more skins for a champ what I will never ever play anyway.

In many cases maybe a simple refund or an option to pick the exact champs and skins you want could work better (in theory I would prefer this system, obviously) but they can't really flood things with IP/RP I think as thinking about the whole community and long long time players, it means a LOT.

This still won't solve the problem of some guys - like one who posted on those forums - who plays since the early seasons, owns every champ and a damn lot of runes what he spent an insane amount of IP on and even hundreds of dollars and he doesn't even want his IP and RP back as he can't spend it on anything but he want the worth of it. Well, so what now? There was an idea to release some unique skin for these kind of old players, maybe it's a good idea. I don't know, for 150,000 IP+30,000 RP it has to be some very awesome skin :-D

As a downvoter, the vote came from the frankly ridiculous notion that it would only be a summoner icon combined with assuming everyone who disagrees with you hasn't spent IP and RP on Runes/Rune Pages. It was a no vote until you started assuming everyone who disagreed with you was a freeloader. I've spent my share of IP and RP on Runes/Rune Pages.

Yeah, it's not going to be a refund of all of the IP. Runes were always intended to be an IP Sink, it's counter productive to give that IP back. It's a bit more reasonable to assume Mystery Champions (or Skins if you own all champions, like they've done before) will be the closest thing to IP reimbursement if they go with a system that already exists.

The better bet is that Riot will come up with some new IP sink (with a way to spend RP), and that some amount of what was spent on Runes will carry over to that system instead.

Didn't you watch the Youtube video where they said that they're making runes free JUST because they are an IP sink and it's stopping players from using IP on champions? And if you didn't understand, the summoner icon was an overstatement.

Also it's immature to downvote a post just because you disagree with it. (Even though there is no opinions that could be disagreed with.)

I think you are just jealous because new players will have it easier then you... Even though it changes exactly nothing for you. The situation is the same for you, and better for others.

Just sayin, i got all the stuff i wanted long ago, and i really dont feel bad about other people having it easier now.... You see other players getting something for free, and now you somehow want your part of it too. Theres just one person thinking only about himself, and that's you. I have spent over 250k IP on runes too and I don't care too much if I get it refunded (which will not happen) or not. Most of them IP would just sit on my account forever anyways.

I'm glad they finally try to remaster runes and masteries and no, I'm not the slightest mad that they will take away my current runes that I spent hundreds of hours of playtime for.

So... I spend like 350.000-400.000IP on Runes... I own every single Champ in the game... I sitt on 50.000 IP

Do I want some attention, when Riot is deleting all the bought content? (looking at Rune-Pages RP) Sure. But a refund is a mediocre solution.
I prefer another solution. Something nice for casuals - who spend some RP and IP, something special for Veterans who spend ALOT of IP and some RP.

I think Riot is able to find a nice way - just wait and see.

Why?

half of the runes are worthless. The game needs a new system and getting one is awesome. Its a new adventure, and by adventure the game is going to be even more broken.
It helps new people out, which helps this game not die. I invested time and money because I wanted this game to get bigger (Even if i never got magma core)
I never bought an IP boost, they aren't needed. I played the game cause it was fun, so as time went on(7 years later) I now have almost all the runes, have changed names like a 20 times, every champ etc. But new people pretty much get forced into spending money for boosts or playing non-stop to try and catch up.

Have you ever helped someone new to this game recently? Low level is full of smurfs and people who got banned. Its shitty. Being new to this game is fkng cancer. Let them have some free runes

It wasnt "stolen" from you, they are literally spending thousands of real dollars. To give you a new, better rune system. And to expand on it. IP is free, and RP isnt used on runes. Then they are going to give it all to you, for FREE.

Riot is not doing this for older players, but those who start it later. I never said I wanted to pay for new players to have free runes. I spent ip on runes because it was considered mandatory by some people while other players were enjoying their new champions. My champion pool is super small because I wasted my ip on something that will get deleted soon anyway.

Ive spent over 3k on this game, trust me. I KNOW They didnt force you to buy runes pages, and 5 is all you really need.
