Smurf queue working as intended.

Except I have 4 new players on my team against 3 smurfs. What happened to smurf queue? Why do you literally refuse to fix low level matchmaking so that my 2/14 Velkoz who ran to lane with no items can actually learn the fucking game without dying to their plat 1 Riven over and over? What about my MF who bought 4 dorans blades, and didn't buy a single completed item until 23 minutes, it being Rylai's? The MF who would ult minion waves at an angle and miss the wave completely, but got placed against Urgot botlane and went 17/2? That doesn't make a lick of fucking sense Riot.

Here's another game of Riot being utterly fucking lazy in fixing the fucking matchmaking. http://prntscr.com/jt7p00

Who the fuck is in charge of this shit? Like what in the actual fuck is the point of a new player playing the fucking game if they're just going to get placed against 4 fucking players who are fucking smurfing you dumbasses? Like this is actually pissing me off because there's absolutely no fucking point in pressing the god damn play button due to shit like this happening. I go 3/0 in lane and my 4 new players who've played 4 fucking games total of league in their entire life are dying constantly over and over again because they don't know what the fuck they're doing.

Stop jerking your dicks in your office and fix this shit. New players should be getting queued with new players, you implimented a fucking system to detect smurfs so they get queued together. Why the fuck isn't it working? Tell me, I'm actually fucking curious. Did someone hack the fucking system or am I missing something?

actually, following that line of thought.... This being season 8 of the game means there are very few real "new" players so even if they a low ranking, the majority of the queue are technically "smurfs". The consequence to this is that new players don't stay very long.

Also in terms of the main topic, matchmaking in both normal and ranked has been a long standing issue that riot doesn't want to touch with a 10 foot pole. The amount of effort it would take is substantial, and there's no actual (as in not fake or a distraction) solution that will match-making without at least some type of detriment to the higher elos (in terms ranked) or the higher mmr (in nomrals). Ideally you would want to force a team with say a diamond player or two even in normals with a middle to lower tier player and a new player. and it should be similar on enemy team. so that the higher tier players can without being toxic teach the lower tier players at least in normals games. This would undoubtedly increase queue times but that's unavoidable for fair games. Ranked matchmaking is even worse, its a shit show and should probably be scrapped all together and reworked.

Being overly aggressive towards them by calling them out and saying hateful shit towards them isn't gonna solve anything, nor would they want to talk with people like you.

Call Me Nana2 votes

kind of confused by this. You're levelling up a different account.. which doesn't it make you a smurf also?

So you're just really complaining about other people doing exactly what you're doing.. right?

You have 3 new players on your team. Youre a smurf. Im assuming you queued with them. Theyre now considered smurfs too.

its a normal game, isnt it ? Check op.gg or porofessor during loading screen. For example, yesterday, full team low plat, gold, silver, nobody is premade, we got against full premade team of d4 d3 players. RITO MATCHMAKING AT ITS FINEST. And then when i go play premade with challenger and master friends, we suddenly get 5 bronzes on opponent team.

It's a normal game while trying to level up an account, get over it, jeez.

It's easy to say that to him but to new players its incredibly disheartening to be playing against people who've got thousands of games played and are in the top 30% of the established player base. I've gotten several friends into LOL and most of them quit simply because of how shit leveling an account felt playing against Either toxic people on there third or fourth account or smurfs.

What do you offer as a solution? Waiting for like 15 minute queues to be matched against legit new players? Rather have 1 minute queues, get to level 30, buy a decent amount of champions and unlock all runes, and go from there. Playing in levels doesn't really help anything, since you play without runes, which is a core part of the game.

P.S.: Of course all the low elo people will downvote me for that, as if they'd like to stay in levelling up with 15 minute queues.

I've heard time and time again that people would deal with longer ques for more evenly matched games and I would tend to agree with that, on the subject of smurfs I'm not certain what the right choice is but I am certain that the current choice of riot shoving there head into the sand and denying that there even is a problem isn't working and in my opinion is what will eventually kill this game.

So, suppose we have two situations; one is that an old player is trying to level up a new account and the other is that the new account is a legit new player.

For the first situation, the existing player has no interest in dealing with the levelling up; the faster they get it done, the better for them. Therefore, they don't care about quality games, and they don't want long queue times.

Now, for the actual topic, the second situation. The new player obviously has no grasp on the game, therefore you'd assume that you would want Riot to match them with other players of equal skill, meaning other NEW PLAYERS OF THE SAME LEVEL. In any other case, even matching them with bronze players is not equal skill, because at least bronze players have experience in the game, so that's not fair, while matching them with players of a higher level is not fair either, because they have access to more champions and more runes etc. This means that a queue time for a truly fair game would probably be half an hour, maybe more, which is hugely inefficient. Instead, Riot decides to match those players in the levelling up bracket with anyone else, while trying to maintain balance between both teams. They do that, because even if it's a new player, which isn't as big of a chance as an existing player making a new account, the levelling up doesn't really matter in terms of becoming a good player. The reason the whole level 30 thing is there is so that a new player can at least get to experience the game mechanics, how to move around, attack etc; generally understand how the game works, so that they won't be able to just go into ranked games or something.

Therefore, the levelling up stage is just a place that both the players and Riot want to get out of quickly so that they can engage the actual games. Existing players gain nothing in that stage, and Riot / new players just gain enough experience to not be completely alien to the game.

With that said, the queue times need to be low, which means that matchmaking might create some unfavorable situations, like this one in the OP. The new player doesn't get to understand the difference between a silver player and a platinum player; they will both stomp on him. He will not learn anything even by playing against players of his own skill. He will learn more by playing vs bots and practicing things there. Things like csing, moving around, attack range, combos etc.

Therefore, fair matchmaking resulting in huge queue times is completely stupid for the leveling up stage, which brings me to my original point; it's a freaking normal game in the leveling up stage, and the OP got stomped. Who the fuck cares? If you want to learn the BASICS (because that's what the leveling up stage is supposed to teach you), you can play vs bots.

The person leveling the new account IS the problem whether they be a smurf or someone who was recently banned they are the issue.

Snowman Arc1 votes

Not really. I can see some reasons why someone would like to have a new account. For example, I have 2 other accounts, and I play with much more freedom in those accounts, I'm not anxious to get wins or losses or destroy my KDA, leading to more fun games, more relaxing games, whereas on this account I tend to take every game very seriously and I tilt every time something goes wrong, because I want to have a good showing on this account in terms of win rates, KDAs etc. That's one reason.

Another reason is that someone might wanna try some road to w/e. It's certainly fun to do and see how high you can reach and with what winrate.

Of course, new accounts made by banned players is something I'm 100% against and I wish there was a way for banned players to stay banned and be unable to make new accounts.

5% of your post consists of the word "Fuck" or it's variants. oof. In all seriousness, I feel like sometimes it's better to fight people a bit better than you. Maybe going as far as 1-2 division higher than you. You learn better when you lose than when you win, if you're open to improving that is. If you lose and think "This game's fucking dumb, I lost so hard" Then yeah, it's gonna be counterproductive. As for the Smurf queue, that IS a bit messed up, but the only thing I can think of is, well, yeah. It's not that optimized. And I'm sure the system works upon the normal MMR. Therefore, if the system thinks "This player has an unusually high amount of MMR, but it's not IMPOSSIBLE for someone to have a good win streak." Then it's gonna do something along the lines of this methinks. It's a machine that looks at one number and bases it's decisions on that number. It's also why trolls don't get banned often if at all, because the system looks for chat logs that contain certain words, again, resorting to words because it looks at deaths and says "It's not impossible for them to have played poorly." I don't know how it works, that's just speculation. I think there's a better way to tell Riot there's a problem than have 1 or more fucks in every sentence whilst talking to a game developer's game you're playing.

ParanoidNoc6 votes

A player leveling their first account can get nothing out of playing anyone at even a gold level. They are practicing csing and the gold dude is practicing map rotations tower dives and objective control.

Snowman Arc1 votes

If the new player wants to learn to cs, why even play PvP games and not just go into a bot game and practice for endless hours? Feels strange to want to go into a PvP game just to train the basics, and having to interact with other players who can mess that up. It's like playing football and trying to train on your accuracy on free kicks, and instead of take your ball and go solo to take some free kicks, you go into a game with your friends and wait for the opportunity that someone gets tackled so you get the chance to take a free kick.

well i could at least give you a couple of vel'koz tips. lol

first and foremost don't get ignite as a summoner spell. it's awful on vel'koz because in order for it to be useful you have to be close to your opponent which if you are your asking to die. get barrier instead as vel'koz has survivability issues and no escapes. Archangel staff is meh on vel'koz. it's better to rush Luden echo's now.

Because it's so easy to tell if someone is smurfing by an automatic system right? seriously this thread is useless af. There is always smurfs on every single game that has a ranking system so get over it already lmao
