Nerfs Needed: Nautilus

Disclaimer: just laned against a nautilus as sion.

Right now they're hitting his E base damage some, but I don't think that's whats really tipping him.

He currently has a 17% max hp shield, meaning that you would have to burn 17% of his health just to start trading back. If Sion was toxic because of a large shield < which is now a measly 6% of his max health, almost a three percet less than nauts lv 1 > and because of nauts large shield, his trades are even more powerful as it also allows him to sneak in even more damage in his trades.

If sion, who fills the same slot on the roster as a high CC tank, was "broken OP unfair to play against" because of his E, AND his shield, both of which were nerfed, mana nerfed, numbers nerfed, activation time nerfed ect, then Naut should get the same treatment.

Current numbers of Naut's shield, which he ranks second vs Sions shield < also assuming ranked second >

  • Do remember that sions shield can only be up for_ seconds, while nautilus remains for up to 10

assuming they have the same health < which is a Nerf for nautilus who has a higher base hp and hp per level gain, and in fact Sion doesn't catch nautilus until he has gained at least 200 hp from his passive which requires at least 100 farm at 18: Sion 1785hp, Nautilus 2058hp>

if Sion ranks E first, and naut ranks his E first

Damage: at skill levels 1-5

Sion: 1: 70, 5: 210

Nautilus: 1: 155, 5: 300

Shield strength at skill level 1 & 5 <assuming lv 1 is 600 health for both parties, and lv 5 health is 2100 health for both parties>

Sion: 1: < 30+36> 66hp shield lv5: < 130 + 210> 340hp shield

Naut: 1: < 65 + 54> 109hp Shield: lv5: < 85+357> 442 hp shield

You see in both cases in reliable damage from E and shield strength Nautilus overpowers our similar archetype, he does more damage and has greater survivability. I think that if nautilus were to be brought in line, his shield should scale as present, with a 2% drop in shield power at max rank with 2100hp it would drop him to a 400hp shield, and at lv 1 would drop him to 107hp.

as you can see this wouldn't affect his early game power curve but might significantly improve the trading power of the opponent as time goes on.

I would think that this nerf would affect his win rate very little, but make him far more endurable.

There's your problem.

Sion sucks.

naut shield is 9% at rank one and he should be maxing it last because Q is more useful unless he's losing

Sion's shield doesn't have as high a scaling, but he's expected to have a much higher HP pool than other tanks, also considering its % damage and his passive, there's not really comparison to be made here other than they're CC tanks with shields.

I really can't say much about Naut other than he seems fine to me.

As far as Sion goes I know he's in a good spot and he can beat a Naut. If you'd like a suggestion; don't max E first unless your opponent is squishy and easily pushed out of lane. First point into W. Second into Q. Third into E. Depending on how the lane was going fourth point into Q and fifth into W if it's going well or vice versa if it isn't. Either way I'd frolly max W against a Naut, or any tanky laner honestly, for the %health damage and the damage prevention in fights. If it's going really well just max Q and drop them on him.

Good luck to ya

Pretty sure it would be a totally different story for Nautilus if you played champions like Garen Darius Tryndamere Riven Vayne , but really, why of all top lane champs you picked Sion
