[DISCUSSION] Removal of the “Support” label

CoolKnightST··4 votes·616 views

I have been thinking about this for a while. Whe have the concept of primary and secondary role ever since the release of the game. Back in the day the concept worked great. Supports where basicly defined differently and the meta was still a work in progress. I think whe reached a point these labels start to get seriously outdated. The meta has evolved and the game transformed into a character based environment. The concept of classes now only a secondary element of the game.

The support class just have evolved beyond the limitations set by the label. Blitz is an support, Nunu is an controle jungler, Lux is an controle mage, Ashe is an marksmen, Fiddlestick is an jungler, Alistar is an support, Kayle is an mid/top/jungler, etc… The only thing that the label does is interrupt clarity and would only make it confusing for future players. Breaking the meta can work, hell I would even promote it. But this information is just misleading. If a new players goes Ashe support because he reads it’s secondary role it can result in a negative experience than when that new player take Blitz support and has a healthy for experience with the game when he see’s blitz grabbing some boothy. With DynamicQ new players will get involved in the meta faster.

#So Let’s remove the label “Support” from the primary and secondary role entirely.

I understand if it's removing Ashe's & Orianna's Secondary Support role, but Braum? Seriously? You're just asking for downvotes here.

I think it's a good idea honestly, Just replace "Support" with "Utility"

i think its perfectly fine as it is the support defines the play style of Aiding the adc in the lane thus giving all the cs to them and protecting them anyway possible so they can carry lategame...... its not JUST a label its how the play style actually is ur supporting ur adc as in ur helping the adc......thus look at aid groups in real life......

Actually, support isn't just aiding the ADC. It is aiding the entire team. If a champion has enough utility to be able to aid his team in general, then it can be considered a support even if it is not viable bot lane. For example, Kayle.

I agree. We should remove "Support" and replace it with "Luggage"

Yeah, those "Lane-ists". Probably voting for Donald Trump, wanna build walls in all the lanes and say I can't play champions.

If we remove support, what will we label Soraka and nami as?

I think you might want to get better with English grammar first... an is an article that appears before a vowel, and in the case it's used here, none of those are vowels.

On the topic though, what would happen with Champions like Janna Soraka Nami
