[Discussion] Does anyone find the game a little dull at times due to somewhat limited item choice?

Even when we have more items than ever, I still notice that a lot of the time, everyone will oftenly buy the same items, when there are so other choices.

Thing is I find a lot of basic items cool in terms of their concept and a lot of the time see good potential for them to be used as a legendary item.

I am also aware that it would cause balance issues if there were more items added or changed in the game. But it would make it so much more interesting because you would find yourself buying different items, whether it's because you feel like it or whether you need to because of your match up.

Some items I see potential for being good as Legendary items are as follow:

Hextech Revolver
The Dark Seal
Oblivion Orb
Cull
Raptor Cloak

People buy the same items because the disparity between those items and items one tier below them is fucking gigantic. There are a select group of items that are simply too good for what they do and Riot either doesn't know this (ignorance), doesn't know how to fix them (incompetence) or doesn't care (negligence) because it's been that way for a while.

It's the same situation with runes, some of them simply benefit specific characters far too much compared to the other options available. If someone has two choices, one that is 80% effective and another that's 100% effective, why on earth would they ever pick the lesser option? Riot's current design philosophy seems to be to bandaid patch every thing they happen to come across and never addressing any of the underlying issues. That's why an item like Duskblade can still exist even though it's bad for the game's health, is poorly designed and hasn't been balanced for ages despite all the tweaks and changes Riot's implemented to try and balance it.

This attitude towards game balancing IS GARBAGE.
