So We're Finally Admitting that Assassins have Problems?
Really, I don't know why it was so hard for people to see the flaws in Riot's logic? Like, remember back when Riot removed the legit Last Whisper to "encourage build diversity"? When they thought that it was better to split each stat into different items, so that instead of everybody sharing one or two items in their final build, it was just a "generic penetration build" and a "generic crit build"? Yeah, that was when shit really started to fly off the rail. Now look at where we are, lol. I can still remember the days when I could fit a
into my
build, or a
into my
build, or some crit into my
build. Well, now I can't, because one, Riot took the element enabling our oneshots into
(so that every other champion with good AD scaling could also abuse it), and two, Riot split our core build into five endgame items. I wanna have a different build for each assassin, but hey, you gotta
now.
And then Talon. A straight damage buff? Because Talon's problem is that he has SUCH an easy time getting onto an ADC, and just no way of bursting the little bugger down, right? Because Talon's greatest weakness is that he is NOT the fact that he is_** physically incapable_ of direct engages, and is forced to play out the vision game for flanks literally _one hundred percent**_ of the time? Is that what you really think, Riot?
Also, still Talon, but just another area where Riot screwed him over--the rework on him, what made anybody think that it's a good idea? He still has half his W and his R, but his core identities have ALL been turned around 180 degrees. First, his abusable early game is gone; mages have to play the entire lane around denying him passive procs instead of being able to go aggro to try and shut him down early game. It's frustrating as all hell to play against this hooded asshat that deals triple your damage just because he is who he is, but then, at the same time, it's even more infuriating to play AS Talon. His engage is so pathetic compared to what he used to be that I genuinely don't feel any more mobile than a Darius in lane. It goes from waiting for the level 6 power spike and knowing that great things are coming your way, to praying to God that your enemy makes mistakes and feeds you kills. So fun and engaging, right? But then Riot steps up their game yet again, by absolutely fucking decimating Talon's AoE and his reliability. Now Talon is just another generic assassin that goes in for one guy and, regardless of whether he succeeds or not, either dies immediately afterward or is beaten within an inch of his life and forced out of the fight. We have a billion of those guys already. Talon was the special guy who had to plan out his AoE like an architect, who didn't devote his entire being to one specific person all the time. THAT was diversity. Not the brainless rush-Duskblade-and-tunnel-on-ADC BS we've been progressing toward.
