Yasuo's Windwall Should Break

Cherysse··90 votes·5,290 views

after a champion crosses it (it becomes breakable after 1.5 seconds), so it would only be used in a defensive way, as it is already too disrupting.

There is nothing more frustrating than being a ranged champion and having a Yasuo as an enemy, if you go right ahead against him he will punish you with everything, and he will dance on his Windwall, killing you quickly and easily. The worst part was that you didn't even dealt any damage to him, it is even worst when you are 2 or 3 ranged champs and he blocks all your projectiles and efforts.

EDIT: about clarity, the wall is unbreakable for 1.5 seconds, after that it becomes breakable. If an enemy champion or Yasuo crosses the wall it will break. This is not a nerf for his ability to break projectiles if he uses it properly, it is a nerf to his ability (and his team ability) to abuse the wall during a team fight, some times when a TF develops in the jungle it becomes a nightmare to fight against that wall, if you run you will die, if you fight you do nothing -obnoxious-. In the other hand it prevents Yasuo from dancing in his wall ignoring insane amounts of damage (which forces you to run and he will chase you and kill you).

Balance buff??: maybe buff once again his base shield. As I said Riot will never allow a champ like Yasuo to be unviable, but we need more room to counter THAT WALL.

If you are a ranged character just dont fight yasuo while his wall is up. Hit a different target until it is down. If he stays behind his wall he isn't damaging you provided you dont sit at the wall with him.

if all targets are on the other side of the wall just wait and if you die flame your team for no peel

Cherysse2 votes

And if he is on the front of the team fight (with limited angles in the jungle), uses his wall in front of all your ranged champs, then goes back with his team to kill your tanks? It has happened to me at least 4 times, it is a way to abuse the wall, if the ranged champs come close to help they will be in the range for a wombo combo and they will be dead, if you try to get to another angle or attack from another side you are pretty much dead anyways, if you retreat you have lost at least 3-2 team partners. I have no trouble with him using the Wall to defend himself, I have a problem with him abusing the wall, it's long duration and the fact that it utterly nullifies almost all ranged efforts to repply not only from 1 champ but from all ranged champs, not only against him but against his whole team. I dont even have a problem if he truly times it to block an ultimate, that's a true skilled Yasuo, I have a problem on how he abuses the wall and it's duration.

Then adjust your team strategy. Bait his wall first and then go in. Or chain cc the yasuo. In your example it sounds like the yasuo is already fed. And if your tanks do their job well they wont be so deep in the enemy that they cant either backout if team doesnt/cant follow up or at least take some squishys out with them.

the Wall can turn a 5vs5 into a 2 vs 5.... It is only one of the multiple cases when the wall can be abused, in the other hand don't you dare go into the "CC THE CHAMP, THE CHAMP IS WEAK AGAINST CC, STUN IT".... EVERYONE IS WEAK TO CC UNLESS YOU ARE IRELIA! do their job well? in a 2 vs 5? are u serious?

Sorry you would rather cry for a nerf than learn to play.

Men, I know how to play against him. Just let him dive you, he will run overconfident and dive you, then you must FLASH BACK, and use your CC abilities or damage abilities against him. Or you can run away knowing that he will dive you, or he will proc his wall and render your efforts useless, or you can bait him, or you can play a melee champ DumbF.

Or you could simply stay behind your tanks so that if he tries to dive you he immediately regrets his decision.

Yasuo is the textbook definition of why low Elo opinions on balance should generally be ignored. Literally no matter how strong or weak he is on a given patch he will always be complained about by hordes of silver Lux mains. He loses lane to all of the current meta mids and his win rate dropped by 6% when Bloodlust was nerfed.

While he gained more than 6% with that patch, seems legit.

Cherysse3 votes

Low Elo? you say so? Im Gold on LAN and I was Platinum on S5. However, that's the problem, he may lose the lane but do you believe it matters? If he gets a Thresh, a Kalista, a Malph, an Alistar or an Aatrox on his team (or Janna) it doesn't matter, a good ult and a good placed wall will allow him to win a tram fight easily. The problem with Yasuo is that he is too frustrating to fight against, even if you manage to gank him constantly and cause him to fall behind he will be able to win team fights anyway. He needs a nerf on that what makes him obnoxious and he needs buff on that what makes his plays fun to watch and use.

The worst part of the wall in the Team Fight is that he will use it and it will block the enemy team projectiles while all the enemy ranged champions can still use theirs to take down your team.... I mean seriusly... Obnoxious as F.... If the Windwall was to be a little bit wider and granted stats passive it would have been a supp's ultimate....

So tell me

A champion allegedly has:

  • Amazing laning with high control of 90% of matchups mid
  • Amazing scaling regardless of how well he does in lane
  • Amazing utility in every teamcomp and can win games by himself via existing
  • Is extremely easy to play and win with

And yet, with so many easy and broken mechanics, does not break a 50% win rate

Why is that? I would like your excuse

WickedCrow5 votes

Probably because he has the highest play rate and therefore a lot of low rank players are playing him? Its the same shit with champs like Lee Sin, Zed, and Riven, but Riot wont touch them because they are so popular.

He had a 15% pick rate and 52% win rate

Now he has an 11% pick rate and 46% win rate

You all need to stop.

Lux has the same pick rate with an 8% higher win rate, why arent you complaining about her?

Probably cus her kit isnt overloaded and she actually uses mana.

And is thus stronger

Or more overloaded, if you will

Could you please direct me to whatever site you are using because I dont see much evidence. Lolking shows Yasuo having a fairly consistent ~50%+ winrate and higher popularity than lux.

48442 Analyzed This Patch + 14215 Analyzed This Patch = 62, 557 - Yasuo

vs.

44547 + 7101 Analyzed This Patch = 51,648 - Lux

So thats almost 11,000 more games than Lux being played, and with a worse winrate than her. Far from a similar pick rate. Besides, everyone knows that champs like Yasuo, Lee Sin, and Riven rarely get close or over 50% win rate cus they are flooded with people trying to pull off all sorts of stuff with them. That DOESNT change the fact that his kit, when in skilled hands, is dangerous, potentially game breaking, as opposed to lux who's kit, outside of maybe her recent Q change, isnt all that bad.

Slamurai Jack3 votes

You heard it here folks: The champ who's winrate is 8% higher is still the worse champion.

WickedCrow4 votes

Many people seem to forget that a Win applies to a team of players, not just the champ in question. Even if the Yasuo is good or the champ is strong, if the team loses as a whole its still a loss, be it if the jungler feeds, or bot lane gets camped, etc, etc. Win rate is important, but it shouldnt be the only factor in deciding if a champion is strong or not, especially with a fan-favorite champ like Yasuo

That is a load of shit and you know it. I'm so absolutely done with you people spewing this garbage.

Those champions have lower win rates because theyre harder to play or weaker, you dont get to just make stuff up like "I dont like that champion so all of its players must be bad xDDDDDDD"

Yes you got me with the pick rates, Yasuo is played a whole 17% more than Lux, that doesn't change the fact he loses significantly more consistently

AHeroNamedHawke4 votes

{quoted}

That doesnt make any sense. 60,000 games with 10 champs in each game How does the one yasuo decide if its a win or a loss?

Because that's how statistics work

Are you trying to tell me that Yasuo has literally no impact on any of the games, and all winrates are completely RNG? With a large enough sample size it is extremely easy to see a pattern, and that pattern is win rates

AHeroNamedHawke4 votes

{quoted}

A win rate in a team game should not be the only thing you base a champion's personal ability on. Focusing only on win rate in a game as complex as League of Legends is foolish.

And instead I should be focusing on the opinions of 4 million low Elo players?

How about we just ignore all statistics and take my word as gospel then, seeing as I've been playing since season 1 and am rank 522 on the ladder.

This post is a textbook example of why listening to only the top percentage of players is cancerous and always results in bias to champions, playstyles and overall overcentralisation.

Yeah man, I should listen to random silvers that get their feelings hurt by a pixelated samurai, and come up with designs like "I counter this champion by running at it in a straight line"

What? All of these statistics show he isn't problematic? NO, MY FEELINGS MEAN MORE

Just shut up already

ChaddyFantome2 votes

I Iike how you just resorted to insulting me and everyone. Almost like you had no argument. Hm...just a thought.

SlytherMinn9 votes

That's the balance of ranged ADC. Some champs have shields. Braum is entirely based on this concept. Learn to attack from another angle to get around his shield.

Cherysse24 votes

Learn to attack from another angle? have you played against Yasuo? if you get on the other side of the wall he will cross it so he will stay protected. Only champs with high mobility can fend off against the windwall or only if you are a melee, then you don't give a damn.

SlytherMinn9 votes

Have you studied geometry? I said angle, not side.

Cherysse13 votes

It is almost the same thing, you have to cross it in order to deal damage to him.... even if you try to go into another "angle" he will punish you as you try to move just to land 1 AA before he kills you off in 1.5 seconds.

SlytherMinn4 votes

I really don't think you understand what angles are.

Cherysse6 votes

I understand what an angle is.... if you try to go on "another angle" he will punish you while you try to get the "angle"

CatSith22 votes

I think he meant you should bend your projectiles with sheer will so they can go around the wind wall at an "angle".

Cherysse6 votes

Probabily, I should make my projectiles arc arround the windwall like in the movie "Wanted" so that they reach their target.

Canidae2 votes

Chances are that you're trying to poke him near your own minions (I hope). So if he windwalls, unless he makes it exactly perpendicular to the minions, you should be able to strafe to the side closer to your minions and continue poking him. If he dash to the other side, he'd be in your minions or too close to your tower (or both). If he goes straight at you, then your champion should have something that can punish him for that (i.e., lux snare, ahri charm, brand stun).

Heckin Support19 votes

Have you studied geometry? I said angle, not side.

Because it doesn't block from both sides. Oh...wait.....

Wimbledofy3 votes

You do realize you just said side again? Saying "Both sides" is trying to imply there are only two sides, when that is way wrong. This game doesn't have just forward and backward, there is also left and right. If you are going to give a counter argument, don't repeat what someone else had said incorrectly. He said he didn't say "sides" and now you reply as if he did say sides. Was the post somehow that unclear that you didn't understand that angle and sides are two different words?

Taarki1 votes

While there are more angles than just the two sides, the only way to get a "better angle" is being on the EXACT same line as the windwall is projected at. Because if you are off a millimeter, then you are still on one of the two sides.

Wimbledofy2 votes

No, it is possible to shoot from an angle respective to the wall and yasuo that you can shoot him from either side depending on his position from the windwall. If you go to the left side of the windwall instead of front/back side you can be shooting at yasuo from either side depending on where yasuo is standing. This would mean yasuo has to stand practically inside the wall for you to not hit him. This would allow your teammates to hit him from a different side if he avoids you. If he avoid your teammates you will be the one hitting him.

Axis the Dragon5 votes

Yasuo can just literally stand inside the windwall and take 1 step in any direction to void any "angle" you take. Granted, it's a defensive position, so he won't be getting any kills in that way. Devil's advocate, out.

do you as a ranged champion have to stay in Yasuo's melee range for those 4 seconds the wall is up

what is kiting

.... some times you are forced to fight against him (IN TEAM FIGHTS), and even when he is focused he just ignores insane amounts of punishment (and also his team does)... it is an unfair trade by all means for a champ with such a damage spike.
