The problem with dodges and champion bans

XinZhao2WinNhao··1 votes·245 views

After a dodge, the players who are in the next champ select will ban the champs that they know other players are playing. This seems a bit unfair, the purpose of a champion banning phase is to not know what the enemies are going to play before banning. This sucks for 1 trick ponies the most.

I don't have a proposed solution for this, but this is annoying. Talk about your experiences and suggest solutions.

Solution: Leave queue, rejoin after 30 seconds.

You will not be matched with the same people.

If I leave queue and rejoin after 30 seconds I'll have to wait 10 more minutes to get a game.

This is called target banning, and if it was unfair or wrong it would've been taken out of the game, especially high ELO, a few seasons ago.

It never happens to me except after a dodge. Most of the time you have no clue who your enemies are going to be.

then wait 10 minutes.

I figure it's a sample of extremely high(/low) elo where you know the players even available to be match with, as well as formal tournaments where you know the players/teams in advance.

I don't find people change their bans that much in actual practice though, since there usually is enough actual meta OPs demanding bans in the first place. If they change their bans to get rid of your hovered picks, then that leaves up the OPs for your team to grab instead.

One tricks or those otherwise particularly worried may want to just leave queue for a little bit, even if it is annoying to have to wait for a new match, it's possibly better then getting into a 20+ minute game that you'd lose due to not being on your one trick.

its a real thing

:3 sometimes when i'm gonna get a troll support or something I'll ask someone to dodge just so they might end up on the other team
