Kayle is the closest I've seen to a champion that does everything before Lee Sin, and even Lee Sin can't be ranged.

Probably why she's so damn hard to balance.

She's actually very one dimensional. She's just very good at the one thing she does.

True and not true. If you look at her abilities - not the strengths, just the functionalities - she does everything. Targeted CC, heal, MegaShield, waveclear, ranged/melee AAs, armor shred, MS boost.... I remember back when she made a decent tank, could jungle, and (a VERY long time ago) held her own as a defensive support.

Right now Riot's number tweaks have pigeonholed her into one role/function, that of an AP marksman. Her heal is ass and the MS boost from it takes a LOT of AP to make it good, her CC is limited to a point and click slow, and that armor shred wasn't even her original passive (RIP bonus AD from AP and vice versa, made a lot of build paths viable).

That's why it's never a good idea to just look at functionality when claiming someone's kit is 'overloaded'. Sure, Kayle may technically do a lot of things, but most of them are really bad.

Exactly. Change some numbers around and Kayle becomes a good tank. Change some other numbers around, and she can be a true mage marksman a la Kennen. Change a third set of numbers, and she's a mage support. It's why her identity has only (relatively) recently become "AP marksman", because her changes (although on paper minor) have bounced her around a bit.

I know I've seen a bunch of other posts where people sarcastically list all the functionalities of some random champion's kit, making them sound overloaded, then it turns out it's some balanced/weak champion.

Kayle is literally what crit ADC's aspire to be. A ranged AA champion with a not so bad early game, a good mid game, and a great late game. With an ultimate that saves you when you're dived on by assassins, all while still having a heal so you don't even need a mastery for lane sustain. Why even play crit marksmen lol?

Not to mention the fact that even if you took her support in the current meta, if she gets a kill or two, you have another hypercarry on the team.

yea, her slow on her Q is good for gank setups, her W is a good movment speed boost her E is meh in lane good for shoving, and her ult is broken.

she is best as a counter to some melees top and she can jungle . id say those would be her best roles

Her heal actually scales up to be pretty potent with a scaling movement speed boost. It's pretty strong.

She's definitely viable as a support, especially against the mage supports currently. Your R completely negates Malzahar. Her Q smacks his shield down easily. Healing and speed from her W makes rushing enemy support mages super simple too. Kayle CAN do anything in this game by virtue of being a jack of all trades. The best? No. Viable? Yes.

I don't think it is worth while picking her as a support. and if you wanna argue her ult vs malz ult then I counter with tahm kench... his W negates malz ult. and you have it up a lot more often and with less cost then kayle's ult. but ya know to each their own.

That's not even relatively the same. Tahm is melee and has to go into range and still takes damage. Kayles ult is instant, invul and does tons more damage, also including a massive speed boost/heal. You still take damage in malz's pool. Kayles ult does not. I'd take Kayle support in the current meta long before I took Tahm.

Don't know what is so funny. Between Taric, Braum and Tahm, Tahm is barely useful in this meta. Bottom lane supports tend to deal damage and can 1v2. Kayle does this. She far more viable.

I legit have nothing against you, but some of your opinions we've debated recently boggle my mind. You'd rather pick a slow moving, easily kited tank into Zyra/Malzahar than a mage with an instant invul ult and huge harass uptime that scaling into a hyper carry. I don't... get it.

yea cuz kayle is to easily played around if she ults a target you focus her or another target it only last for 2 seconds and has a high cd and she cant tank damage for anything and her peel is shit.. as a support.

taric and tahm are the two best counter picks to malz when it comes to support... (they pick in lck lcs to counter malz)

and as far as other tank supports like leona and naut... ill blow right past him and his poke and engage on his adc and blow them up with my long range cc and multiple forms of cc and out tank his damage with no problem

What? Taric sucks ass against Malzahar and I'm a Taric Main. He's immune to your CC and can easily poke you out of mana with two voidling waves. Tahm is in pretty bad shape right now. Kayle has bad peel? She's got a invul ult, massive heal/speed boost and a Q nuke that is a slow. Used in combination, her W and Q are pretty much an instant escape. Maybe you just don't know how to play her? Tahm Kench is pretty much always a bad pick at the moment. No reason to take him over Taric/Braum/Leona. Initiate tanks suck against Malzahar.

She has a Slow, Heal/MS steroid, Invincibility.

I agree she isn't really that useful support, but she was realistically designed to be supportive.

Morg wasn't designed to Support, but she fits in down there really well.

She was designed to be a supportive champ, doesn't mean she can't be the damage dealer too, like a Orianna.

She's a kog maw who trades a little bit of range for a whonky ass ultimate that can give her enough time to annihilate something with little counterplay other than burning all your cc during its duration.

While normally gated by a weak early, many kayle's go top where she can actually be a cancerous bully.

Thankfully, she cant deal with ganks at all...

Kayle's kit is basically, "when I'm strong enough to be competitively viable I am cancerous as fuck, and when im not, I'm a niche asshole in solo queue to melee top lane mains"
