does pyke deal lethal damage if the target is shielded above the threshold?

title is the primary question. I expect it to be a yes but i thought id ask since compared to urgots ult for which you have time to throw out shields to prevent health from getting to the threshold, you can also block the ult since it's a projectile but pykes ult doesnt do anything until the damage occurs and also cant be physically intercepted and also doesnt provide any counterplay opportunity aside from the delay between activation and him appearing at the location which looks shorter than or equal to 1 second based on the ability video on his release page.
