Chill out my fellow low elo bros and grills and climb some ranks

Climbing the low elo ladder doesn't have to be all that bad. This quick guide is going to skip a ton of stuff and just focus on some key aspects that can help you climb a couple extra divisions and potentially reach gold for the season reward skin.

**CHILL THE F OUT.**Literally.... one of the best things you can do in this game. Now some of you are brand new players still learning the game and learning champions. You are going to have other things to learn, but if you can chill out and just try and focus it will help you a lot on your journey.

So last night I am playing a game with a couple of my buddies. They were both silver 4 at the time, I am gold 4. So we in a low elo game combination of low golds and silvers. I went back to my roots of playing the cancer mid I love Lux. Now I did not stomp my lane and to be honest I don't stomp many lanes these days. But without stomping lanes I still find it really easily to carry and win in low elo games. We had a Vayne top fed her ass off. Literally 0-6 first few minutes. Most people would be saying "gg this game over blah blah". Meanwhile I am sitting mid vs a Chogath just evenly trading. Actually scratch that.... I was csing like shit the dude was out farming me pretty badly and pushing my turret. No problem though, I was not feeding and new I had the late game advantage on him. My buddies duoing bot were just going even in lane as well. Honestly we got pretty nervous around 20 mins when the enemy team was up a lot and killing turrets but the game turned into a freaken 60 min long slug fest and we ended up winning in the end. I even got a S rank at 60 mins, so yea that is possible.

But why were we able to win? I am sure a lot of you are able to guess but this is how I started approaching my silver games and it has allowed me to rank 3 accounts to gold this season. I am now struggling in gold mainly because I am having trouble carrying games super hard as I am still learning but the tips listed below are still heavily used and keep you in games at all elos. They can just help you win and carry more games the lower elo you are.

  1. Clear those damn waves. Enemy team sieging on you? Clear the wave. Poking the enemy is important but if you kill the minions then they cant siege your tower without tanking it and taking damage. You know who is awesome at clearing waves? (my go to pocket pick mid Lux).

  2. Freaken learn to rotate. Its 18 minutes in game and your team just killed bot lane. Head mid and push. Or you end up losing bot lane and the enemy is mid. Head mid to make sure its covered. You have a mage mid who can wave clear along with your jungle and support? Head bot and clear some waves. No one covering top and waves crashing in? Head top push waves out then head to your team. Its crazy how many players specifically in silver/bronze who do not rotate and just let lanes push while everyone gathers mid to ARAM.

  3. Don't get caught warding.

  4. If you have an idiot on your team (see Vayne in our last game) who never groups with team then just let them do their thing and wait. Eventually the enemy team will go to stop them. While the enemy team goes to stop them split push or w/e they doing, head baron or dragon if available. Or just hard push another lane. Its a judgement call, but you can easily exploit the enemy when they chase your teammates around lanes and the map. Really the point is... pay attention to the map and your teammates.

  5. Learn what sort of comp you have. If you know your team has advantage early game try and do your best to win the game quick. If you know you more of a late game comp then don't be surprised if your team is losing early. If you know you out scale the enemy you have a good chance of winning if you can just hold out. That is why except in rare circumstances it is stupid to surrender in low elo. Low elo games are thrown all the time. Just focus on trying to get back into the game.

  6. Farm. Getting kills is great, but farming is generally better. Don't stop csing. Always look for lanes to push and try to kill as much cs as you can don't just go through the motions. If your jungle focusing on farming is extra important. Your instincts are going to tell you to constantly gank but what you really should be doing is spending some time farming your jungle and helping push lanes or covering lanes.

  7. Objective control is huge, but dying over dragons is generally not worth. If you know 4-5 members of the enemy team are at dragon its pretty unsafe to head there and try to fight without the rest of your team. You can try to steal if you have wards and have some ranged abilities but its not worth dying over. Pay attention to your team and see if they coming to contest or not. If its just you and one other teammate its really dumb for both of you to die trying to fight the entire enemy team. This shit happens a lot and its really annoying. All you do is give the enemy more gold and the opportunity to take other objectives.

  8. Stop overstaying. You ace the enemy team? Sweet... push hard and take an inhibitor or two. Depending on champions and point in the game you might be able to end. If not.... don't stay once the enemy team re spawns. So many people just sit in the enemy base and try to keep fighting and it ends with 3-4 people on your team dying and wasting your advantage. Generally this leads to a reverse Ace and enemy team taking baron or elder dragon and maybe winning the game. So yea... just stop over staying and see your win percentage increase.

Tl,dr Chill out, don't surrender, cover lanes and farm. Look for opportunities to take objectives and don't overstay. Learn your teammates play style and pay attention to the mini map to know where your team and the enemy team is. Typed more than I wanted apologies.

Excellent points, just copying your TL;DR here for others. :P

Yeah very good points, I personaly love the games that last 60+min they are the most exciting and are fun no matter who wins in the end. point 5 is one of my weak spots, I am still learning what to do on my limited amount of champs, let alone understanding what the other champs can do.

But yeah giving up to early is the wrong thing to do, even though I will do it if the whole team is feeders, but I will never initiate a surrender. Hell Winning games when you had an afk from the start shows you that giving up is the wrong thing to do.

+1

Edit: I have no top builds whatsoever, and I just played a game using my jg build in top as ww, I was the feeder. Sorry guys I played with.

missing enemy laner(s)? watch for cheese traps in the bushes. WARD from the farthest point you can if you suspect the cheese trap.

another trick, the ward scanner/oracle has a really long range, a bit farther than a ward placement nearly.trigger that if you want to save a ward and spot the enemy, but keep your distance if you suspect it.
